She's a sharp shooter! Rachel McAdams wields a firearm as she films gun battle with Colin Farrell on LA set of True Detective

She might be new to the cast, but Rachel McAdams proved to be a natural as she engaged in a gun battle on the set of True Detective on Monday.

Rachel and co-star Colin Farrell wielded handguns on Monday while filming scenes in Los Angeles for the upcoming season on HBO.

The 38-year-old actor and his 36-year-old co-star filmed a shooting scene downtown along with co-star Taylor Kitsch.

Colin portrays Ray Velcoro who was described by the cable channel as 'a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.'  

The actor put on some extra pounds and grew a mustache for the role and he was seen wearing black jeans and a denim shirt while filming.

He had his dark hair slicked back into a small ponytail and also wore sunglasses.

Rachel portrays Ventura County Sheriff's detective Ani Bezzerides 'whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.'

She filmed the shootout scene wearing skinny faded blue jeans with holes in the knees, a grey sweatshirt and a black Pittsburgh cap along with sunglasses.

Taylor, 33, has been cast as motorcycle officer Paul Woodrugh in the upcoming season.

He was spotted in a black T-shirt and blue jeans chatting with Rachel between scenes.

The second season of True Detective also stars Vince Vaughn, 44, who plays a career criminal whose bid to go straight gets thwarted by the murder of his business partner.

The first eight-episode season of True Detective starred Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and was set in Louisiana.

The critically-acclaimed anthology series created by writer Nic Pizzolatto will have new cast ensembles each season.
