Eggy Azalea! Iggy's elaborately braided Grammy Awards hairstyle spawns series of hilarious memes as internet users liken it to a bird's nest, instant noodles and bread

A bird's nest, cinnamon rolls, a woven basket and instant noodles... Iggy Azalea's braided hair 'do became internet fodder on Sunday night as it spawned a series of hilarious memes.

Within hours of stepping onto the Grammy Awards red carpet with the elaborately plaited hair 'do –which sat atop the 24-year-old's head like braided armour – had become a sensation.

Like Kim Kardashian before her, who almost broke the internet when the world went into overdrive creating online parodies of her infamous Paper magazine cover, the curvaceous singer's locks became the butt of several jokes.

Internet users went to town, using Iggy's regal bonce as a resting place for a pigeon, while another user placed a handful of blue eggs in the crown, captioned, 'Eggy Azalea'.

Sandwich chain Jimmy Johns shared a picture of a woven foot long sub with the caption, 'Iggy's making me hungry', while another user created a crown from snack cheesy bites.

Twitter user Jessie Rubin continued the food theme, simply doctoring a photo of Iggy and placing Jewish Challah bread across the top of her forehead, writing beside it: 'Nice 'do Iggy. #GRAMMYs #challahback.'

Hungry for more, Ryan Dizon shared a picture of a packet of instant noodles, captioned, 'iggy azalea's hair looking like my noodles pack.'

While others' likened her to the actress from 50 First Dates, Julius Caesar and a curly horned goat.

The singer was unmissable of the red carpet on Sunday, working her hourglass figure into a plunging powder blue Armani gown.

Holding her head high the Fancy singer, who is nominated for four awards, turned to reveal two tightly plaited French braids that adorned the sides of her head like horns.

The New Classic singer kept her makeup pared back revealing her doll-like features with a dewy skin tone and the curliest of lashes.

Working a sultry rose-bud pink pout the confident beauty teamed her eye-catching hairstyle with an on point gown that clung to her every curve, flattering her frame with cut away panels.

With a plunging neckline and capped sleeves, the elegant dress revealed a grown up approach to her sartorial direction, with a sheer panel adding a flirty edge.

On the night the Mullumbimby-raised rapper lost out to U.S rapper Eminem, 42, for Best Rap Album, which he took for his eighth studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

Iggy has faced a barrage of criticism in the past few months from acts such as Eminem, Azealia Banks, Eve and Jill Scott for her perceived cultural appropriation and 'blaccent'.

The girlfriend of L.A Lakers star Nick Young will have chance to win again as she's up for Record of the Year and Best Pop/Duo Performance for Fancy and Best New Artist.

Hours before the red carpet event the outspoken blonde took to Twitter to call out pizza brand Papa Johns for handing out her phone number after delivering a takeaway to her home, reports MTV.

After receiving a deluge of texts from employees the singer took to social media to air her frustration: '@PapaJohns was my favorite pizza but the drivers they use give out your personal phone number to their family members.

'And the supervisors at @PapaJohns refuse to send pictures of their employess so you can identify who it is that steals your information.'
