Out of hiding! Camera-shy Sia reveals her face backstage at the Grammys after performing live with her back to the audience

She arrived to the 57th Grammy awards ceremony in a large blonde wig covering her entire face.

And after performing her hit song Chandelier live with her back to the audience, pop singer Sia let her guard down backstage at the Staples Center in LA.

The 39-year-old Australian musician was spotted being escorted by an assistant and bodyguard through the backstage area, without wearing any face or head wear to conceal herself.

Wearing the same white dress and heels she took to the stage in, the Elastic Heart singer didn't seem too phased by the cameras as she made her way through the corridors, laughing and giving a full glimpse of her face and real hairstyle.

Her blonde bob fell just below her ears as she held on to a bottle of water and wore bright red lipstick.

It was an incredibly rare sighting of the pop star who usually opts to hide her face due to her unwillingness to be in the spotlight.

The songstress' shy personality and fear of fame almost led her to be smothered by her own success, and in 2010 she seriously contemplated taking her own life while battling addictions to alcohol and drugs and struggling with depression.

In a recent interview with the New York Times , Sia said that she is not interested in the fame that comes with being a successful musician, especially after her personal battle.

'It's horrible, I just wanted to have a private life,' she said.

'Once, as my friend was telling me they had cancer, someone came up and asked, in the middle of the conversation, if they could take a photograph with me.'

Since the release of her most recent album, 1000 Forms Of Fear last year, the Adelaide born performer has made a concerted effort to hide her face in all her live performances and public appearances.

As well as her recent showing at the Grammys earlier this week, Sia has also appeared on a number of US talk shows in the last year concealing her face in eccentric performances.

Most recently, Sia raised eyebrows when she took to the stage on the Ellen DeGeneres show inside of a giant white box, earlier this month.

Only her head could be seen poking out of the top but a blonde wig with long bangs completely covered her eyes and nose.

In similar performances on US talks shows Late Show With Seth Meyers and Jimmy Kimmel Live, she was seen spooning Girls creator and star Lena Dunham - who also donned a platinum wig - while lying face down on a bed and singing covered in face paint, with her back to the audience respectively.

Instead, in latest film clips and live performances, Sia has taken a liking to Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler, who also accompanied the singer to the annual US music ceremony on Sunday.
