Cheating on her diet! Jennifer Garner, 42, takes a taste of daughter Violet's chocolate frozen yogurt after claiming she lives on salads 

She told Yahoo Beauty in January that she eats a lot of salads to keep her thin frame in check.

So it was a surprise to see Jennifer Garner, 42, indulging in some chocolate frozen yogurt during an after-school outing with her daughter Violet on Monday.

The mother-daughter team were in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and seemed to be having fun with their chilly dessert.

The Dallas Buyers Club actress was dressed down more than usual for the outing.

She had on a very nondescript black crew neck sweater and right grey skinny jeans that had zippers on the bottom.

On the mother of three's feet were grey and pink trainers.

Garner was holding what appeared to be a small cup of coffee and a cell phone.

Mrs Ben Affleck leaned forward as her eldest daughter Violet fed her a spoonful of the tasty treat.

The West Virginia native appeared eager to sample the sugary snack.

Violet looked fashionable in a sleeveless red dress. Her hair was pulled back and had braids in it.

Also with them was a young girl that could have been her other daughter Seraphina.

Garner broke down her diet to Yahoo News in late January. 'With food I'm probably good 80 percent of the time,' the beauty said.

Jennifer added that she eats 'a lot of salads.'

But still there are some foods she cannot give up. 'I've found out that I cannot pass up pizza without having some. I just can't!

'My kids have a lot of pizza. I can't go to a kid's birthday party without having a slice.'

The Catch And Release star was seen enjoying a slice of pizza at the L.A.'s Staples Center for the Clippers vs. Celtics game with daughter Violet in mid January.

In the same interview Jennifer said she went too far with her dieting when she was younger.

'I dieted for so long in the middle of doing Alias and being a superhero, that there's something in me that can't do anything that extreme,' she explained.

The ex-wife of Scott Foley added, 'I mean, believe me, there's always a point in the fitting where I feel like, "Why didn't I just try to lose four pounds and then I could wear any dress?" I just can't though.'
