That's one cheeky Chappie! Hugh Jackman poses with robot castmate from his latest Sci-Fi movie wearing casual dapper suit

He has only just wrapped up his latest Broadway play, The River.

But Australian actor Hugh Jackman isn't slowing down, instead getting straight back to work on promoting his latest project.

The 46-year-old slipped on a casual suit and t-shirt combination on Tuesday as he attended the Chappie cast photo call at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York.

The screen star happily posed with robot Chappie, the title character of the new film which is set for release on March 6.

The science fiction movie about an experimental robot, also stars esteemed actress Sigourney Weaver and actor Dev Patel of Skins and Slumdog Millionaire fame.

Clearly excited about his role, the Aussie actor took to Instagram to share a shot with his inanimate co-star, captioning: 'Morning Chappie!'

Hugh recently starred in the Jez Butterworth Broadway play, The River, which closed on Sunday.

Clearly grateful for his time on stage, the X-Men star took to social media just before his final bow to thank loyal followers.

He posed with a cheery fan before entering the theatre, penning: 'Thanks Eliza and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU for coming to support all of us @theriverplay!!!'

The actor thoughtfully added: 'We couldn't do it without you. #1Fans #grateful.'
