'I want her to feel safe - that's something I didn't have': Christina Aguilera on daughter Summer Rain... as she reveals she's not in a rush to marry fiancé Matt Rutler

She welcomed her baby girl, Summer Rain, in August last year.

And Christina Aguilera, 34, has opened up about her precious daughter, the kind of mother she hopes to be and how her hectic life has put her wedding plans on hold.

She told People: 'I want her to be surrounded by love and grow up feeling safe. That's something I didn't have when I was young and something I have been very vocal about providing for my children.

The songstress poses with her cherubic tot in a series of photos for the weekly publication - with fiance Matthew Rutler and her seven-year-old son Max getting in on the modeling action too.

'Summer is a pretty Zen baby. She loves people. She has these big, blue, soulful eyes and really takes you in when meeting someone new.' the Beautiful singer gushed.

The songwriter has realistic expectations when it comes to raising her children as she explained: ''Mom guilt' is the worst. It's hard to know you won't have all the right answers at the right times.

She added 'We can be our own worst critics sometimes'

Christina became engaged to Matt last February but has no plans to wed just yet as the star has quite a full plate.

The couple have just moved into a new home which they call 'the Sanctuary', have their new baby to care for and Christina has also just returned to the judging panel of NBC's The Voice.

She explained: 'I have my hands full and am not in a rush to set a date. Our love is secure enough that we don't need a wedding to prove our love or commitment.'

The Fighter hit maker also revealed she would like more children but is focusing on herself and her work for now. 

She is back on TV screens on February 23 alongside Pharrell Williams, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season eight of the hit singing competition. 

Christina's son Max is from her previous marriage to Jordan Bratman.

The pair married in 2005 and split five years later, with their divorce being finalized in April 2011.
