On Thursday, the extremist group announced it was holding another man who they claim posed as a foreign fighter to spy on them for Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad. The body of a deceased pro-Russian soldier was been pictured in Donetsk - just hours before a ceasefire with Ukrainian government troops was enforced. Intense fighting across the region has left at least 26 dead in the last 24 hours. It includes a child killed at a nursery in a government-controlled town 25 miles from the front-line in eastern-Ukraine. The ceasefire began at midnight but there is no early indication as to whether either side in the conflict - that has claimed over 5,000 lives - is observing it.

Wensley Clarkson is the only person to have written a book about the criminal activities of notorious gangster Kenneth Noye (left). Movie director Shin Sang-Ok and Choi Eun-Hee were once South Korea's golden couple (together, left inset). Choi (pictured alongside Marilyn Monroe in 1954) was considered the country's most glamorous actress. The pair were separately kidnapped by North Korea at the request of the country's then leader Kim Jong-il (right) and spent years being held against their will. The winner of the Valentine's Day date with Rochdale councillor Karen Danczuk, 31, must have had a better offer as he rescheduled the night-out until next month. A children's book written for Comic Relief has come under fire for lampooning the Queen and depicting Prince Philip as a drunkard. The Queen's Orang-Utan, by Little Britain star David Walliams, was written especially for the charity, with at least £3 from each sale going towards the fund. But it has been branded 'well-intentioned but misjudged' by Royal watchers due to its depictions of the Queen and members of her family.

Hundreds of police stations have closed in the wake of budget cuts, including one in Muswell Hill, north London. To combat this a 'police contact point' has been opened in a local Planet Organic Store. But officers have no desk, no way of logging on to the police national computer and no official forms. On two evenings, no offences were reported to the officers (right) and only one person approached them. The Prince, a keen conservationist, is due to round off a solo trip to Japan and China next month with a visit to Wild Elephant Valley in Xishuangbanna. The popular tourist attraction set in a nature reserve is home to some of China's last remaining wild elephants. William, who is patron of the Tusk wildlife charity, will also see the reserve's Wild Elephant Walkway, which has been credited with helping to double the wild elephant population in China's Yunnan province in the past two decades. What the Prince may not realise, however, is that just 400 yards away, captive elephants are forced to perform to thousands of visitors a day in a shoddy arena that draws crowds from across China.

Walt Disney Pictures has reportedly denied accusations of digitally altering Lily James' (seen left in film and right at film premier) waist to make it look smaller in the new Cinderella film. After the latest trailer for the live-action feature was released last month, many people took to Twitter with comments about the minuscule size of the actress, and even suggested photoshop had been employed to achieve the look. 'I have a problem with the fact that Cinderella is photoshopped to have the tiniest waist I've ever seen,' tweeted @vixennicks.

The survival expert smashed his way into the ITV studios (pictured left and right) on London's South Bank ahead of his interview on the This Morning sofa with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford (inset) yesterday. Animal rights activists infiltrated two farms and a market near Beijing, each of which had more than 300 'raccoon dogs' (left), a canine species distantly related to domestic pets. They secretly filmed the trade after pretending to be potential buyers from Europe and their video shows a grinning worker ripping fur up around a live animal's head after stunning it with two metal probes hooked up to a car battery (top right). Fur farming was banned in Britain in 2000 but is largely unrestricted in China, which produces a stream of pelts (bottom right) for export across the world.

A Lebanese TV station has announced they will launch a fly-on-the-wall prgramme, called The Sisters about Nadine, right, Alice, centre, and Farah Abdel Aziz, left, charting their daily lives in Beirut. The sisters have long been compared to Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian due to their glamorous lifestyles and love and fashion and have a rising profile in Lebanon thanks to their daily Instagram fashion blog.

Set against the slate-grey mountains of Snowdonia in North Wales, it's not surprising so many people do a double-take when they first see the house of millionaire businessman Peter Saunders (right). The property, called Cynefin, took three years to create and features bends and soft walls rather than right angles. Open the front door and you find a rounded reception hall, with a superb Welsh ash staircase leading up to a gallery. The ground floor is built into the natural terrain, so the living room area is on a split level, with French windows opening on to terraces from which there are gorgeous views.

More than 100 decked-out dogs got in on the Carnival spirit in Rio de Janiero's annual pet parade in Brazil. From superheroes and Disney characters, to ladybirds and clowns, The Blacao - a play on the word for street party, 'bloco,' and dog, or 'cao'- is one of nearly 500 raucous street parties that stop traffic in the run up to the main Carnival.
