According to Balkan Rock, B.R.M.C. played in Zagreb in 2004 when they held a concert in Zagreb Swamp after they were supposed to be the opening act for the canceled concert Lenny Kravitz. B.R.M.C. they let the audience and held a great show, and it all – free.

Earlier today, Leah of BRMC posted an announcement on the band’s website and Facebook page about having a personal medical issue called Chiari Malformations, a structural defect found in her brain and skull that affect her balance and other functions, which will require emergency surgery. Unfortunately, this means BRMC have to cancel their upcoming performance at Moon Block Party:

Dear Moon Block Party Fans,

We are sad to announce that BRMC have cancelled their performance at Saturdays Pomona Fairplex show due to a serious illness within the band.

As a team, Moon Block Party are beside ourselves and wish Leah a swift recovery. We would urge you the fans to come out to the festival and enjoy the amazing line up we have still performing. We would like Moon Block Party to act as a conductor of positive energy in which thousands of us will come together, through music and focus our energy towards Leah in this unsettling time for her. We understand that this totally sucks for all those who were excited to see BRMC, but it sucks even more for Leah. This is bigger than the festival. Our thoughts are with you Leah. We are staying positive and hope to have a great show with you in our hearts and minds.

We’re still waiting to see if there will be a last minute replacement, until then please send all your love and support to Leah during this time and let’s hope she has a fast and full recovery!

They talk a little about their recent festival appearance at 101 Sun Festival.

Hoy empieza todo con Ángel Carmona – Los fantasmas de Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – 15/07/14 15 jul 2014 Recibimos a Robert Heem y Peter Hayes, integrantes de Black Rebel Motorcycle Club que en estos días están en España presentando su álbum ‘Spectre at the feast’. Un disco muy influido por la muerte de Michael Heem, antiguo íder de The Call, padre de Robert y mentor de la banda. Una circunstancia que ha añadido si cabe más carga emocional al rock oscuro y poderoso de BRMC. Obiettivi principali del festival sono: la promozione della grande musica internazionale, lo scambio culturale e la sensibilizzazione alle tematiche ambientali.

BRMC added to 101 Sun Festival in Malaga, Spain

Great news for fans in Spain and Europe! Earlier this morning, BRMC were announced to be joining the 101 Sun Festival in Spain:

“The line-up of 101 Sun Festival keeps growing and adding new artists for a stunning selection for its first edition, which will take place at the Estadio de Atletismo Ciudad de Málaga on the 11th and 12th of July. This time, the new additions are three international bands, starting with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The West Coast band is one of the most revered names in the rock scene from the last decade, mixing a punk rock attitude of bands like The Stooges or The Jesus & Mary Chain. They have released classic albums such as ‘B.R.M.C.’ or ‘Howl’. 101 Sun Festival is the only Spanish festival they´ve confirmed for now.”

They join a line-up that already included “great international and Spanish bands, such as Franz Ferdinand, Crystal Fighters, ‘Rinôçérôse’, Russian Red, Lori Meyers, Amaral, or L.A., among others.”

BRMC score the dark comedy “Life After Beth”

Earlier today, BRMC announced their involvement in creating the musical score for a film called ‘Life After Beth‘ premiering at Sundance Film Festival this week:

“For all you film lovers out there, BRMC have created the musical score to a new dark comedy ‘Life After Beth’. It will be premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this week. Directed by Jeff Baena, the film stars Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, John C. Riley, and Dane DeHann. Unfortunately since this is the first film festival that it is being presented at, there is no trailer as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted.”

Zach is devastated by the unexpected death of his girlfriend, Beth. When she miraculously comes back to life, Zach takes full advantage of the opportunity to experience all the things he regretted not doing when she was alive. However, the newly returned Beth isn’t quite the way he remembered her, and before long, Zach’s world takes a turn for the worse.

Imitating what Dr. Frankenstein did with his monster, writer/director Jeff Baena assembles disparate parts of his film into a new whole and jolts fresh life into it. By fusing elements of a young love story and a zombie movie, he concocts a wickedly funny and shockingly poignant film. With its killer soundtrack and all-star cast, including Aubrey Plaza, whose distinctive delivery has never been used to greater effect, and Dane DeHaan, who perfectly embodies the suffering of a young man with a broken heart and a rotting girlfriend, Life After Beth will leave you dying to see it again. – T.G.

Jeff Baena is a writer and director currently living in Los Angeles. He grew up on a cul-de-sac in Miami, Florida, and studied film production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Baena cowrote David O. Russell’s I Heart Huckabees, released by Fox Searchlight. Life After Beth is his first feature film as director.

Clockenflap set time & Bandung venue change

While in Japan, BRMC did signing sessions for fans before (and after) the 3 shows they played. They also helped promote the movie “Only Lovers Left Alive” which features their song “Red Eyes and Tears” on the soundtrack. This photo from the Ebisu LIQUIDROOM signing was posted on the Japanese Facebook page for the movie.

According to the film’s Wikipedia: “Only Lovers Left Alive is a 2013 romance drama vampire film written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, starring Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt andAnton Yelchin. It was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.” Sounds like it’ll be an interesting movie!

BRMC’s set time for Clockenflap Festival in Hong Kong is 9pm to 10pm on Friday, November 29th. As for the Bandung show on December 1st, it was recently moved to a new venue called Dago Tea House. If you happen to be in Hong Kong or Indonesia for those shows, then definitely make sure you don’t miss them!
