'So frickin' cute!' Jennifer Lopez gushes over baby-faced 15-year-old American Idol contestant

Looks like Jennifer Lopez has a soft spot for the youngest contestant on this year's American Idol.

The On the Floor singer couldn't wipe the smile off her face when 15-year-old Daniel Seavey hit the stage.

'He's just so frickin' cute,' gushed J.Lo as the Portland-based schoolboy rocked his guitar on Wednesday's show.

Daniel's rendition of Paula Abdul's Straight Up wowed the crowd, and got him placed in Idol's top 24.

'We've been impressed with you from the beginning, you are so young…you're a great singer,' Lopez told the grinning teenager.

Daniel's triumph was part of a mass contestant cull at Los Angeles' legendary House of Blues.

Loren was happy with her efforts, Harry Connick Jr. didn't quite agree, but she made it though anyway.

'For me, it wasn't your best,' said Harry.

Self-professed 'big kid' Adam Ezegelian, 21, also made the cut after rocking out to Whitesnake's 'Here I Go Again'.

But teenager Reno Anoa'I took his rejection hard, bursting into tears with his family afterwards.

Adanna Duru, 18, raged with emotion for Man's World during her showcase. 

The Californian got a 'yes' from the judges.

But things weren't as easy for sweet sixteen-year-old Maddie Walker.

She was forced to have an impromptu 'sing-off' with Louisiana girl Rachael Hallock, 23.

Maddie won by a very slim margin, leaving Rachel crestfallen.

'I guess I'll go home and carry on playing in f***** bars,' she sighed.

Coming from a hugely disadvantaged background 16-year-old Tyanna Jones had a lot riding on her performance.

The gifted Florida-native, who used to be homeless, blasted out Beyoncé' hit Love On Top.

'You came to life out there, we want you to be in the top 24,' said J.Lo.

Lastly Jax, the daughter of a retired 9/11 firefighter, worked the crowd with a Lady Gaga rendition at the keyboard.

The 18-year-old New Jersey resident gave a 'dramatic pause' in the middle to 'confuse' the audience.

'It wasn't your best, said J.Lo.'I like the fact that you took a risk though,' she added as Jax was passed on the next stage.

New York subway busker Hollywood Anderson was a judge favourite at the audition stage but plummeted in the groups stage.

The Idol producers left his fate as a cliffhanger for tomorrow night's show.

Tomorrow the last of the top 24 will be chosen.
