One aspect I enjoy about visiting a beach resort is the early mornings, watching the world wake up. Our first morning, after our first day on the island of Lanai was spent on the patio (or lanai) of our room. My husband and I sipped coffee, listening to the waves crash on the shores, the wind blowing high in the palm trees, and observing the sunrise over Hulopo’e Bay and Pu’upehe (Sweetheart Rock).
After enjoying the sunrise, we decided to take a morning walk on Hulopo’e Beach to climb up to a lookout of Pu’upehe. It wasn’t very strenuous, but I do recommend wearing closed shoes to eliminate any minor foot nicks on the rocks. On our climb back down, we encountered another couple and took turns taking pictures of each other.
As we strolled back to the Four Seasons Manele Bay, we decided to explore the beach area available for public use. There were a few tents set up with campers taking advantage of a wonderful place to stake a tent.
Of course, all this strolling around can make one build up an appetite, so we enjoyed a breakfast at Hulopo’e Court with a beautiful water view from our table. I sipped a mimosa while my husband enjoyed a glass of the delicious orange passionfruit juice served with breakfast. We gazed over the bay, watching whales and spinner dolphins put on a morning show before we set out for a a full island tour to see just what the private island of Lanai has to offer. So far, Lanai is a travel dream come true.

Mmmm thanks for including that lovely video! It’s nothing but snow and freezing death outside where I am now, so that was very refreshing! I’ll definitely have to checkout Lanai when I visit Hawaii. Great job!
