Her name is in the little black books of Australian A-listers, models and It Girls, and she's the go-to for magazine editors when a big name cover star is in town for a photo shoot.

Renya Xydis is celebrity hair stylist to the stars, with a client roster that includes Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Miranda Kerr, Jennifer Hawkins, Kate Winslet, and Eva Mendes.

She's gone on the road with Hugh Jackman, and was flown to Hollywood to give Cate Blanchett a pre-Oscars trim.

Xydis is the Hair Director during Australian Fashion week, and jets to Paris for bi-annual stints at Paris Fashion Week. This, on top of owning a string of salons, including Valonz in Sydney's Paddington, where appointments are coveted by those in the know.

So what does a day in the life of a celebrity hair stylist entail?

Renya has given Daily Mail Australia an exclusive insight into her jam-packed schedule that includes jetting to Los Angeles to primp starlets like Phoebe Tonkin and Abbey-Lee Kershaw, taking charge of Heidi Klum's supermodel mane during her Sydney sojourn, and helping Cate Blanchett get ready for the AACTA Awards...

Saturday 17th January

Today we flew with ELLE to Los Angeles to shoot their cover. I met up with Romy and Danni at the airport; we were all flying together with QANTAS. Once we took off, I watched the Nick Cave movie. It was so good – a must watch the next time you are flying anywhere! After 2-and-a-half hours of flying, we had to turn around and come back to Sydney. The air conditioning was broken on the plane, so they had to fix it. I was not happy!

We were supposed to land in Los Angeles at 9:30am, but instead we landed at 4:30pm. I missed my whole shopping day – it was the worst! That night we went to Mr Chow with the whole ELLE team. We had so much fun! I love Mr Chow - it is so iconic. The interiors are really beautiful and the food is great. Then, it was off to bed at Sunset Tower Hotel.

We spent the whole day shooting Phoebe with the ELLE team today. Phoebe has been a client of mine for a long time, so it was great fun to get to spend so much time with her. We played around with different hairstyles and took some Polaroids. Phoebe is so vivacious and full of life. She is a real ELLE girl!

Monday 19th January 2015

Today we shot with RUSSH Magazine and the beautiful Abbey-Lee Kershaw. I used the large wand and the large iron on Abbey’s hair for the shoot. We drove a couple of hours out of L.A. to get to Bombay Beach. It was incredible, unlike anything I had ever seen before.

It was dry, eerie and desolate and the colour palette was so soft and lovely; lots of muted creams, taupe, blonde and sandy browns against the bluest sky you can imagine

On to the next: Renya also worked on a photo shoot for RUSSH magazine while in LA, working with model Abbey-Lee Kershaw

Wednesday 21st January 2015

Shopping day! We spent most of the day today on Rodeo Drive. We went to Valentino, Celine, Prada and Dior. Then we stopped by Meche to visit my good friend Tracey Cunningham. For lunch, I went to Villa Blanca. I always watch Real Housewives and I love Lisa Vanderpump! It wasn’t what I expected but I still had a good time. That night we had dinner back at my hotel - we had potato chips and then for something sweet, a Bombe Alaska!

Friday 23rd January 2015

This morning I got straight off the plane and went to The Park Hyatt. We landed at 9:30am and I had a call time of 10:00am – we just made it! I was styling my good friend Debora-Lee Furness for the Woman of The Year Awards because she was nominated! Then at 1pm, I rushed straight back to the salon to finish my day with my clients.

Sunday 25th January 2015

When I woke up this morning, I was so nervous and excited… I was styling Heidi Klum’s hair! She was in Sydney to promote her Intimates line. We had an 8:30am call time, so I made sure I was up early and ready to go. I styled Heidi’s hair with the large Cloud Nine wand. Then we went to Taronga Zoo by water taxi and saw Kangaroos, Koalas and Giraffes!

Monday 26th January 2015

Australia Day! Today was the launch of Heidi Klum intimates at Sydney’s iconic Icebergs restaurant at Bondi beach. It was so bright and beautiful on the water. Heidi looked incredible! I styled her hair with a Cloud Nine large wand. That night, we flew to Melbourne to continue the press tour there.

Today was my last day with Heidi so I was pretty sad. She is major girl crush material! We worked at David Jones all day today promoting her new Intimates line. I really wanted to get her a pavlova but we could find one anywhere! So Mel from my city salon made one for her! Then we went to see where all of Heidi’s Intimates are made! It was a great way to wrap up all of our work together.

Back with my girl Cate Blanchett today! I was doing her hair for the AACTAs. Cate has beautiful bone structure so we kept her hair really soft, sexy and romantic with a Cloud9 large wand. Too funny, too cool! I love this woman with all of my heart! I also worked with beautiful Rose Byrne. She has the most incredible hair. Her outfit was really fashion forward so we kept her blunt bob modern by adding texture and volume with a Cloud Nine wand and some surf spray!
