On the comeback trail: Jon Hamm is suited and booted for first red carpet appearance since revealing his battle with alcoholism

Jon Hamm looked debonair in formal wear at a Mad Men event on Wednesday that marked his first red carpet appearance since a recent stint in rehab.

The 44-year-old actor showed his rugged good looks in an off-white jacket paired with crisp white dress shirt, black trousers and black bow tie at the downtown Los Angeles affair.

The star confirmed on Tuesday that he had recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction.

The revelation came as his AMC show Mad Men will begin airing the second half of its seventh and final season beginning on April 5.

Jon has been portraying flawed Madison Avenue advertising executive Don Draper in the hit show since its premiere in July 2007.

The actor looked happy and healthy at the Black & Red Ball at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to celebrate the show's final seven episodes.

He took time to sign autographs for fans and also playfully embraced a kiosk featuring a poster promoting the show's last episodes.

Jon addressed his 30-day rehab stint at the Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut on Wednesday in an interview with Australian magazine TV Week.

'Life throws a lot at you sometimes and you have to deal with it as much as you can. That’s why you have family and friends and co-workers to help you with that.,' he told the magazine.

'I’ve been very fortunate that throughout the most recent 24 hour period. I’ve had a lot of family and friends support me. I guess that’s all I will say about that,' he added.

He also addressed linking his struggle with alcohol addiction with his hard-drinking character on the AMC show.

'Obviously there can be a lot of discussion about how much of this is related to that and honestly I don’t have much to say about that either,' he said.

'I understand it constitutes news these days, but it’s between me and my family and not something for public consumption,' he added.

Jon earned a Best Actor Golden Globe Award in 2008 for his work on Mad Men.

He has been in a long-term relationship with actress Jennifer Westfeldt since 1997.
