I explain the word of wisdom when asked why I don't drink coffee or tea. Then I get." Your Mormon aren't you? I knew it! I always wondered why Mormons don't drink coffee" :) Or someone might say something negative about those people who wear the weird underwear and I say' hey, I'm one of those people!' Or I get hit with "what nerve those people have and how arrogant they are to think they can give blessings for God! Who do they think they are?" Well that's when I explain the gift of the priesthood and that it's through the power of God not man that people receive the blessings. And tell them the only difference between a Mormon and them is that we've made a commitment, a sacret promise to do our best and always strive to improve ourselves because we know we're just as imperfect as every one else and the weird underwear your complaining about is no different than a nun or priest wearing their religious attire. But, think about it. When a nun enters a room normally the reaction would be to behave yourself a nuns in the room. Her sacred outer clothing would stand as a worldly witness. We on the other hand wear our sacred garments in a manor that's private, a reminder to ourselves only. We can walk into any environment and the world has no idea. People don't instantly stop the bad choices simply because we entered a room. There is no outwardly attire worn to set the tone to put that away or watch your language sort of thing. That gives us a greater opportunity to lead by example. That's all and we truly are just like everyone else. The only difference is our personal goals to become all that our Father in heaven wants to be. I'm a work in progress, as imperfect as the rest of the world with a unique goal to overcome all adversity. :)
