Cementing his place: New father Vin Diesel supported by girlfriend and children at Hollywood hand and footprint ceremony

Vin Diesel has cemented his place in Hollywood history by leaving his hand and footprints on the famous forecourt if TCL Chinese Theatre.

The actor was joined by his family as well as his Furious 7 co-stars for the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, just weeks after becoming a dad for the third time.

The 47-year-old looked sharp in a dark navy suit, shirt and waistcoat as he became the 282nd movie star to receive the exclusive honour.

His girlfriend, Mexican model Paloma Jimenez, looked stunning in all white, and showed absolutely no hint she had recently given birth to the couple's third child Pauline.

The Pacifier star announced the new baby girl on Facebook two weeks ago, and revealed he had named her after his Fast and the Furious co-star and close friend Paul Walker, who died in November 2103.

Diesel, whose real name is Mark Sinclair, has two other children with his 31-year-old girlfriend: six-year-old daughter Hania, and four-year-old son Vincent, who were also on hand to help their dad.

But baby Pauline was deemed too young to attend the ceremony and was left at home.

Several of the action star's Fast and Furious co-stars turned out to congratulate him, including Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Ludacris, who collectively all star in the part seven of the mega-successful franchise.

The only sad not on the day was the obvious absence of the series other star Walker, who certainly would have been there had his life not been tragically cut short in the freak car accident.

Besides six of the seven Furious films, Diesel also played the eponymous hero in all three Riddick film, starting with 2000's Pitch Black, as well as Xander Cage in action flick XXX.

His instantly recognisable deep voice was also behind The Iron Giant in the 1999 film of the same name, as well as the Flora Collosus Groot in Marvel's mega smash Guardians Of The Galaxy, where his lines mainly consisted of the words 'I am Groot'.

Despite his credentials as a formidable ass-kicking action star, Diesel didn't quite make it through Tuesday's ceremony with his cool persona unscathed, after he tripped and flailed across the stage, but managed to catch himself before he face-planted.
