They spent the week in Mexico together, despite splitting a little over a year ago.

And Gwyneth Paltrow was certain to look her best during the tropical holiday with estranged husband Chris Martin as she was spotted wearing some of her most revealing swimsuits.

The 42-year-old - who was accompanied by her two children Apple and Moses - took to the golden sands of Puerto Vallarta in a striking bandeau bikini after being pictured the day before in a skimpy two-piece.

Gwyneth Paltrow is providing us with some major bikini inspiration during her Mexican vacation. Yesterday the A-list actress kept it classic and chic in a scallop trim black bikini from Marysia, but today she's making quite the style splash in this emerald set.

Gwyn's bikini is styled with knotted cutouts at front and sides, the signature accents of the hot Californian swimwear brand, Mikoh. We've been obsessing over all their cool pieces for a while now, they're minimalist, modern styles give the sleekest fit.

Since their official split in March last year the Coldplay frontman has been linked to Jennifer Lawrence.

Speculation mounted after the Silver Linings Playbook actress was seen enjoying a sushi date with the rocker in late December, following rumours they had put a stop to their brief romance months before.

While Gwyneth has been linked to Glee producer Brad Palchuk, although nothing has been confirmed.

It was nearly a year ago to the date that Gwyneth and Chris were seen enjoying an idyllic family vacation on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas in March 2014, immediately after announcing their split.

Perhaps a family getaway in the spring of each year has become a tradition for the two, despite their 'uncoupling'.

Last year a source exclusively told MailOnline that Chris even bought Gwyneth a special gift to mark the new stage in their lives; a painting of a bird in flight by Mila Fürstová.

Explaining the decision for the pair to take off on a holiday together immediately following their separation, the source told MailOnline: 'Going away together may seem unusual but that's Gwyneth and Chris.'

In their emotional, somewhat bizarrely entitled, statement called 'Conscious Uncoupling', the former pair admitted they had spent more than a year battling to save their marriage.

They wrote: 'We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.
