As I alluded to last month, Feiniel and I have decided to restructure the tribute system. This has been done not only to reduce the pressure of mass-tributing everyone at one time like the previous system entailed [which was, whilst always a pleasure to read so many fantastic posts and threads and a joy to see you all enjoying yourselves, a time consuming and laborious task with a sporadic timing structure], but also to spread the tribute over a long time so that ye lot are always getting tributed.

We will be tributing weekly, with a different group at each different week. Week 2 of each month will be dedicated to our IK Teams [Drill, Jr Drill, Poetry, Debate, Coney Racing], Week 3 will be dedicated to Threadrunners of both regular threads and new ’game’ threads for that particular month, and week for will be dedicated to participants of both regular and new threads. Week 1 will present a new and exciting scenario for you lot, because instead of tributing from a set list we have decided to hold games/competitions to distribute the tribute for that week. It won’t be terribly taxing and it is our aim not to discriminate against the talents of anybody [making the contest specifically lore oriented, or easier for oldies]. Such contests might include quizzes to complete or short RP excercises - you guys won’t know until it begins.

That being said - we are drawing to the close of Week 2 and as such owe ye lot a little bit of tribute. For starters we need our Week 1 challenge!
The archiving has recently taken place for the fifth time in Plaza history and with it many moments have been immortalised forever. Archivings can spring out at unexpected moments and as such some of these immortalised moments might want to be forgotten (like a certain Tari Brandybutt in Archive 4).

Your task is to delve into Archive 5 and retrive the thing you have done that you are most proud of, an embarrassing moment of another hobbit and the funniest moment produced by another hobbit. Please bear in mind that you are only allowed to post one moment from each three categories as to give others a chance to post, and all moments must come from Archive 5. Five points will be awarded for each moment you post, so a possible 15 points all up if you post a moment from all three categories.

Also feel free to tell me why the archiving was a good thing or a bad thing - the most funny and creative answer will win a little bonus. For example - I see the archiving as a BAD thing because my one post in Advanced Lore has been removed from my tally and there aint no way I can work up the courage to post in there again.

So get hunting!

Well, as for the proudest thing I have done in Archive 5, it would have to be helping to run the big bash we threw for Bilbo’s birthday, but since you are looking for a specific moment, I shall go with my help in preparing for the party (located here).  I was instructed to watch the door, to let in guests on party business, as well as make sure that no sneaky people infiltrated Bag End, and I stuck right to it.  While we were at the table feasting, a sound was heard outside on the lawn, and I flew out the window and tackled the interloper, who turned out to be none other than Merry Brandybuck.  My shining moment.

As for an embarrasing moment done by another hobbit, well it would have to be the spooky time that hit the Village Shoppes (here) and Cana (Lolita) was off in some sort of dreamland, oblivious to everything around her, all full of free spirit, when everything around her was dark and very creepy.  And then the realization that came soon after that things were not so flowery and nice, but instead were very dark, and that the minions were invading sure put her in a shock, earning that moment for both the embarrassing and funniest moment done by another hobbit (and if that doesn’t count as two, then sorry).

And I believe that Archive 5 was a good thing, because it was really slowing the plaza down.  The flip side of that is, that it doesn’t matter, because of the new coding that is being done on the plaza, so no matter what, the plaza still times out.  So I guess it didn’t matter whether the Archive had to happen or not, since the plaza was still running on patches that were wearing thin anyway...

Great idea Wogs and Feiniel.. *scans archives furiously*  One moment in the Shire that I constantly enjoyed and went back to often was the Pie-throwing event during the Lithe Festival. When Feiniel called an all-out free for all, many hilarious posts followed. From creative types of pies thought of down to the antics and frenzied throwing, I was hard-pressed to decide on a particular one I thought was hilarious. I finally narrowed it down to this one....hopefully I wont be smited for c/p one done by Lavender here for all your viewing pleasure. Wonderful fun we had m’dear!

Lavender shouted back to her cousin,"No prob, Oobe!" But to her horror, Turien chucked a pie at her, hitting her in the face."Who threw that?" She yelled out, as she wiped whatever awful tasting pie it was that hit her. Grabbing another pie, this time not taking the time to see what kind it was, Lav throws with full force at Turien. Right after she tossed the pie, Lav was in shock to find another pie hitting her. Looking to see who it was, she saw Ham. Oh she should of known, that bloody slab of pork was nothing but trouble.

Grabbing a bunch of pies, as much as her little arm could carry, she began to set her target on Ham. But it was at that time, she heard Ham’s warcry and then Oobe’s responding warcry. Or at least she thought thats what it sounded it like. And within a split second, Lavender jumps behind Oobe as she jumps to the ground, covering herself. Lav then tossesher own pies at Ham and Cel. But the action of throwing the pies, Lav loses her balances and slips on a already thrown pie on the ground, sending her legs up in the air. She falls to the ground with a big THUD! next to Oobe and begins to laugh hysterically."Is this what you mean by having all that extra cushion in the rear, coming in handy?"

Wow...great idea, Woggy and Feniel! I am looking forward to this! *G*

Alright...into Archive 5. The moment I was most proud of was organising and running the Ship Trading at Sarn Ford this last summer.  I think I began working with Rochir in Feburary and the road to the actual opening of the thread involved many headaches, arguing, and good laughs. From trying to decide what age the plaza is in to realising that I had drawn the map of Sarn Ford upside down - we sorted through everything. When the thread eventually opened in May of 2006 -- I was a nervous wreck; I was so nervous that the thread was going to fall through and all of this planning and stress was going to be for nothing. But, alas! Half of the Shire population turned up in the town of Sarn Ford and after a long (And fun) night at the pub with the Gondorians the trading commenced. I’m quite sure that Miri still has some of that coffee that she traded in her Hobbit Hole!  Sarn Ford was an awesome expierience; it really made me remember the good ol’ days of the plaza! Here is it.

This was a really cool idea Wogs and Feiniel. Seeing as I joined the plaza in early July, I don’t have as many memories as most everyone else will have. But I can say that the thing that I am most proud of during that time, was getting promoted to Archer in the HDS Here. Perhaps it’s not that much, but it meant a lot to me, seeing as I was still new to the plaza at the time. As for the other two categories, I don’t really have anything.

I think that Archiving is a good thing, because it allows you to still look back on old topics, and enjoy the good times you had then, and it keeps everything looking nice and neat. I mean with all the topics and post over the last five years, this place would be so filled up my computer would probably shrivel up and die if I tried to open look a forum.

Ooh, great idea Woggy and Feiniel! I think archiving is a great thing because now all my totally embaressing moments around the plaza (including the fact that I had some posts listed in the LLL forum *dies*) are all hidden away and can’t be found unless someone goes searching (wait... that’s the whole point of this challenge *dies*). I’ll have to come back with some stuff from the archive later ’cause I’m supposed to be eating dinner now.

Archiving is BAD. It’s so horrid and terrible and awful that words can’t describe it. Take a look at Archive 5, for example, and perhaps you’d wonder--who the hell is that idiot with the name *headbangs*? Or Tup Earl Ware? It’s simply awful. It immortalises your moments, the kind you want to be exterminated forever. Besides, I still have no idea what’s exactly going on with archiving and such, and it makes me think that I’m technologically stoopid--which, of course, isn’t the case at all. And the archives of houses? Now people can go into houses and see what kind of spur-of-the-moment posts I had in there, and I can’t delete them! This is a huge blow to my reputation and I don’t like it at all.
And besides, I can never find the links to archives! And when I do find the links, too late--I forgot why I wanted to travel into the depths of plaza history.

Psst, Wogs and Feinie, were we only supposed to do one category, or am I just an overachiever?

This one makes me giggle every time I remember it: (from the HDS thread "Bree to Rivendell", when I asked her to help me find my pony’s saddle)

Mira nodded to Titi to her words of advice to head out towards the other side of Weathertop, but heard Shi’s calls for help. "Sweets saddle you say!?" Mira said squinting against the wind and rain. Mira nodded and gave a thumbs up. She had no idea where to start, but she knew that she should find it fast, not just for her sake. But for Shi, Sweets and Cui’s sake as well. A dry area and a nice warm fire is what everyone needed right now. She headed to where the majority of the horses had been tied up, including Sweets and Cui. Looking low to the ground, Mira attempted to find any bump or sight of a horse saddle that she could find. She wondered how Shi was making with the hunt. Looking under some bushes and shrubs, Mira found a diary she gave a giggle "Is anyone missing a diary?" Mira said laughing. She rather wanted to read it, but didn’t she’d absolutely die if someone found her diary and read it!

...a diary out in the bush. *giggles*

Oh, and I like the archiving, because I can go back and check who’s who when the name changes confuddle me! Way to get creative with the trib/archiving, mayors!

Umm why would you want to reveal a "proud" moment when you can relive the embarassment of others *g*!
"Eru, but Nara was hot tonight. Weebs stood watching in admiration as she danced and spun, the fishscales on her outfit throwing back the light from the brightly colored strobes. She noticed her old friend and neighbor Gerontian enter looking dapper and a good deal taller than usual in his platforms. She waved to him happily as she headed out to join Nara on the dance floor. This was, for her, a dream come true. Ol Rodi might have a gal in every burg, but Weebs was a one gal kind of lass. Her heart beating faster, she hurried out onto the dancefloor to spin and twirl with Nara, her own lithe body limber and graceful from all the hand to hand combat training she’d had while growing up."
I don’t know why but this one always makes me giggle!

Archiving is good as it hides all those scary posts you wish to forget in the dark where no one can find them again! And it makes the Plaza nice and speedy, and of course means you can torment people with posts from the past.

Thanks Mayors and thanks Seph Pie also... I forgot I was such a good dancer... bwahaha!
I still have that disco costume made out of old fish skins if anyone wants to hire it.
April 1st was so cool this year. As well as a disco, I got to go to the beach and godmodely kick sand in the Mayors face. She was quite good about it and well hey, looked kinda hot in her hobbity swimwear as well :P

<from here>
Feiniel...     At last!  Feiniel could break out that hot pink bikini that she had ordered from Harad.  There hadn’t been many opportunites in the Shire to wear it before, but now that there was a beach, her time had come at last.  When she arrived she scouted out a perfect place to catch optimal rays

Naraigin...     Foo! foo on the beach. It was not on. She had to do something about it. Foo on the beach made her so very cross. Leaping to her feet she hot-footed it over to where Feiniel laid on a blanket. She stuck her hands on her hips then kicked sand in her face. "Fer Eru’s-sake woman........ cover yourself up!!" she yelled and pointed to a crudely painted "No Foo on Beach" sign someone had erected near the walkway to the changing sheds
.

... I crack myself up sometimes ... I got to kill my enemy with a very pointy fish as well... <from here>

Hidden evily behind the party tree the sinister Naraigin of Haysend plotted her revenge. She was patient. She could wait. She pulled a small file from her pocket and began to file her long pointy nails. She cackled to herself "muhaha.. bwahaha... hehehe...hohoho...snicker snicker snicker..." What was going through her mind no one would be able to guess. For one long year the kleptomaniac, stoorish hobbit of dubious reputation and many other misdemeanours had waited and now this day had finally come. The day she had waited for. Her potential victim passed close by.......
Suddenly she drew a rather large ominous looking herring from her pocket and began to lunge mercilessly....
