GA-HQ Challenge#3 - RPG's: Vagrant Story by Marvin000
GA-HQ Challenge#3 - RPG's: Vagrant Story
This is a tribute piece, for the classic Square action RPG, Vagrant Story, originally released in 2000.  Additionally, this piece was drawn in conjunction with :icongame-art-hq:'s Challenge#3, which focuses it's attention upon RPG's, and given that this is probably my favourite RPG of all time, it made my selection of, Vagrant Story, pretty much a no brainer for me.

This piece features, the main character from Vagrant Story, Ashley Riot prominently in the centre, meanwhile many of the other various characters from the game, namely, Sydney Losstarot, Romeo Guildenstern, Callo Merlose and Rosencrantz are shown within the silhouette of Ashley Riot, along with a few monsters, the Minotaur and a Dragon, which seem to be iconic monsters from the game as well.

In the background you'll see, the city of Lea Monde, where a majority of Vagrant Story takes place, along with the Rood Inverse, which features as one of the main driving forces of the story, in the game.  Additionally, which can't be seen by everybody, there is actually a map of Ivalice inserted into the very back of the image, to remind people of how this game does still connect back to Final Fantasy, and it's Ivalice Alliance series of games.

Dan Hibiki's Challenge by Marvin000
Dan Hibiki's Challenge
As many of you may know, at this point, I am a fan of professional wrestling and I also love fighting games.  So, when the opportunity comes up for me to be able to combine a pair of my loves into one, I'm going to take advantage of it.

This pin up features, the mighty and slightly foolish Dan Hibiki, who has cobbled together with duct tape and glue, a makeshift wrestling belt, akin to the attitude era Hardcore title; and in a move filled with insane hubris and ego, has decided to challenge some of the most powerful and dangerous grapplers in the Street Fighter world to a winner take all, Fatal Five Way match.

In the background, we have the infamous Mayor of Metro City, Mike Haggar, of Final Fight and Saturday Night Slam Masters fame, acting also as the commissioner, telling Dan Hibiki to get out of the ring for his own safety, as El Fuerte, Zangief, Alex and Hugo, cannot wait to get their hands on Dan Hibiki for his disrespect towards them...when the bell rings, the mayhem will begin...ding ding...enjoy.

GA-HQ Challenge #2: Villains - Akuma by Marvin000
GA-HQ Challenge #2: Villains - Akuma
This pin up of Akuma from the Street Fighter series, is apart of :icongame-art-hq:'s Challenge#2, which features as it's main focus, villains.  Even though he didn't exist in the Street Fighter franchise, until the release of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, where he was both, a hidden character and a secret boss; it cannot be denied the impact that the character has made since his arrival.

Driven by his quest to be the most powerful warrior, he trains relentlessly, creating new techniques and perfecting the ones he's already learned.  Unlike many other villains, you may find in other video games, Akuma is not driven by a need to conquer or destroy the world, but by his insatiable desire to challenge other powerful and great fighters, so that one day, he can be defeated by an even more powerful opponent.

This could be the reason, why Akuma has focused so much of his attentions upon Ryu, knowing that quite possibly, if Ryu were to forget the lessons taught to him by Gouken, that he would embrace the Satsui no Hado, fulfilling his true potential, and thus becoming an even greater warrior than him, and possibly finally ending his quest.

Shadowloo Showdown V - Fatal 4 Way Match by Marvin000
Shadowloo Showdown V - Fatal 4 Way Match
I'm guessing it's ok to post this pin up piece up now, that's it's been accepted into the Shadowloo Showdown V Tribute Art Book.

Some of you may know, that I'm a fairly big fan of fighting games, trust me just look at my gallery, lol.  The opportunity came up for me to submit a pin up for this tribute art book, and I had to come up with an idea.  Thus, I took my love for fighting games, and combined it with another love of mine, which is professional wrestling and decided to combine the two.

I decided to take 4 of the more iconic grappler/wrestling characters from Street Fighter ( Alex, Zangief ), King of Fighters ( Raiden ), and Tekken ( King ), and place them into a Fatal 4 Way Match to determine, which one of them was going to be crowned the World Heavyweight Champion of Shadowloo Showdown.

The hardest and funnest part about drawing this piece, was the fact that I need all of the characters facing a certain way, so that you could distinctly tell, who each of them were, and with some of them doing their special moves, which didn't make the other character they were performing it on, look too weak or obscured them too much.

The easiest one, was to have Alex performing his sleeper hold, on Raiden, meanwhile, trying to figure out what move for King, required me to go through King's extensive move list and try to find a move that he could do coming off of the top rope, which would create enough separation between him and Zangief, so you could see them both from head to toe.  Luckily enough, I stumbled upon the fact that King can perform a high cross body attack, which worked out perfectly, and there you have it.  Enjoy.

The FGE Project: Alex ( Street Fighter 3 ) by Marvin000
The FGE Project: Alex ( Street Fighter 3 )
This is a pin up of Alex of Street Fighter 3 fame, which was drawn for :iconfighting-games-elite: 's FGE Project, which is an ongoing art collaboration by FGE group members to draw more characters from fighting and beat'em up games, that do not necessarily get the proper attention.

I've always been a fan of Alex, since he made his debut in the Street Fighter 3 series of games.  Originally intended to take over the lead character role from series mainstays Ryu and Ken. Alex's combination of close range grappling techniques, along with heavy punch and kick attacks, make him a formidable character.  Sadly, outside of the Street Fighter 3 series, Alex has only made a small handful of appearances in other games like, Capcom Fighting All Stars, Capcom Fighting Evolution and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

Personally speaking, Alex was one of the characters I used the most, when I played Street Fighter 3, given that I'm a big fan of professional wrestling, and many of his moves are from the world of professional wrestling, which made him a perfect fit for my style of game play.  Essentially, this pin up of Alex is what I imagine he'd find himself after the end of the Street Fighter 3 story, where he goes into a sort of Pride like MMA style fighting in order to improve his skills and meet even better, stronger opponents.
