Back again: The Kevin Spacey drama House Of Cards has been renewed for season 4 on Netflix
'I will leave a legacy. #Underwood2016,' posted the official show account for House Of Cards on Twitter.
A photo posted along with the message showed a black background, an upside-down American flag, and another message: 'Season 4 Coming 2016.'
Considering the critical success of the dark drama, the renewal is not a surprise, but it did depend on availability of in-demand actors Kevin and Robin.
Big tweet: Netflix made the announcement with an image and message posted to Twitter on Thursday
The actors have found success on House Of Cards with Robin winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama for season 1, and Kevin following with the Best Actor award for season 2.
Although its only major win has been for directing, House Of Cards has earned a total of 22 Primetime Emmy nominations for its first two seasons, including Outstanding Drama Series.
These Emmy nominations and the Golden Globes wins marked the first time an online-only television series had achieved those high honours.
Growing power: Much like Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey, left), the Netflix series has created a legacy, becoming the first critically successful online-only television show
Netflix has since added other high-profile shows to its line-up, including the heavily nominated Orange Is The New Black.
House Of Cards tells the story of Frank Underwood, originally a frustrated Congressman who decides to do whatever it takes to increase his power.
By the beginning of season 3, Frank had risen to first Vice President and then President of the United States.
Dark story: Based on a British series, House Of Cards is about Frank's rise to power from a frustrated Congressman to President of the United States
Based on a British series with the same title, House Of Cards was one of an increasing number of television shows to attract major film talent.
Kevin is a two-time Oscar winner, while Robin had three Daytime Emmy nominations plus a Golden Globe nomination for playing Jenny in Forrest Gump.
Awards: House Of Cards has been nominated for 22 Emmy Awards, while both Kevin and co-star Robin Wright have won Golden Globes for their performances
