Investing in Japanese companies is clearly high-risk for British investors. So funds, as always, offer the best access point. Often retail investors access markets too late and miss the big surge. In the case of Japan - where equity values have been depressed for so long - there is still a long way to travel.

The trick is to understand how to maximise your returns for the risk you are taking. We reveal how to get the most from your investments for the minimum risk.

ISA DEADLINE 2015
Best cash Isas and how to choose the right funds: Everything you need to know to beat the Isa deadline at the last-minute
The tax year ends at midnight on Sunday - and that means you need to use your £15,000 annual Isa allowance before then or lose it. But because this year April 5 falls on Easter weekend, if you want a branch-based account, you need to open it today or tomorrow. Bank and building society branches are closed on Good Friday and usually shut at lunchtime on Saturday. If you want to open an Isa online or by phone you have a little longer and might be able to open one online right up until midnight on Sunday.
SIMON LAMBERT: Interest rates are rubbish and savers are getting the short straw but it's still worth getting an Isa
The traditional spring Isa rush has been somewhat overshadowed by the small matter of pension freedom this year. Yet the bad news for savers is that there's no gold buried underneath the pensions pile - Isa season has been a dud. The best easy access cash Isa offers a measly 1.5%, while you could just about scrape 3% if you lock your money up for five years, but whether you save or invest an Isa is still worth having.
Our savings picks: This is Money's five favourite best buy cash Isas for 2015
Although cash Isas don't currently offer fantastic rates, it is still worthwhile opening one to shield money away from the taxman. Our savings correspondent Lee Boyce picks his five favourite cash Isas for savers in 2015 - essential reading to help you choose a top savings account for your money. This page is kept up-to-date throughout the year - bookmark it for the very latest developments.
PENSIONS FREEDOM SPECIAL
Wondering how to invest your pension pot to get capital growth as well as income? Here's what the experts would do...
Investing in a selection of funds which produce income and provide an opportunity to grow your capital should be a relatively safe way to create steady flow of cash over the years. But you have to take some time to figure out what you want to do. You will have to take some risk by investing in company shares, but a significant proportion of your savings should be in safer bond and property funds which will focus more on paying an income rather than risking your cash.
How much do you need to retire on? Answer these quick questions to work out how much you'll need to save
Here's our guide to helping you work out how much you need to save for a better retirement, no matter what your age now, so you can act before it is too late. The pensions revolution is all about taking responsibility for your own retirement. To do that, you're going to need a pretty good idea about what kind of retired life you want, and how much you'll need to pay for it.

YOUR MONEY ESSENTIALS
I can't get planning permission for my loft conversion - but if a bed still fits in, can I call it a bedroom anyway?
My plan was to change the pitched roof into a Mansard roof, so the room would have a decent amount of headroom. However, this has been rejected. I've worked out I would still be able to put a double bed up there and there would be enough height in the centre of the room for anyone to stand up. My question is - can I still call this a bedroom?
Sky-high Vodafone bill that left holidaymaker on first solo trip overseas cut off abroad
Before setting off on her first holiday alone, 21-year-old Roseanna Butler did everything she could to prepare for her trip. She told her bank, took out travel insurance and, knowing she'd be using her mobile phone a lot to send texts and put photos on Facebook, she went to her local Vodafone shop to make sure she wouldn't be spending a small fortune when using her phone from South Africa. Staff recommended the World Traveller tariff, which costs £5 a day and allows customers to use their phone abroad just as they would in the UK.
First-time buyers wanting to use new Help to Buy Isa need to avoid other Isas or miss out
First-time buyers planning to benefit from government bonuses towards their deposit savings will need to avoid other Isas in the new tax year or face missing out. The Help To Buy Isa will launch in the autumn and gives a £50 bonus for every £200 saved. But you only have until April 5 to open a cash or stocks and shares Isa in order to be eligible. This is because you are allowed to open only one Isa in a tax year.
ASK TONY: I transferred £1,300, but Santander lost my cash - how can I get it back?
On July 11, 2014, I asked Santander to transfer £1,298.54 from my cash Isa account to NatWest, leaving a balance of £10,000. Instead, the cashier transferred the whole amount and closed my account. She realised her error and asked me to get NatWest to return the £10,000. NatWest did this but, because the Isa account was closed, Santander sent the money back again.
My partner shares £90k in debt with his ex-wife and their house is being repossessed - will I or my credit rating be at risk if we get married?
My partner has been living with me for about four years. I would really like us to get married but he has debts from his previous marriage from credit cards with his ex wife amounting to about £90,000. If we get married will I be liable for those debts? Am I liable even if we live together but do not get married?
Isa deadline looms and Easter means the window shuts quicker - so when does your bank close its doors?
There are just three working days left until the new financial year starts on April 6. It means a tiny gap is left to open a tax-free Isa before it's too late. As April 5, falls over the Easter weekend this year and on a Sunday, it means the window to open an Isa is slimmer than usual.
Top ten most economical new cars revealed by the experts who test them in 'real-world' conditions - with Seat's Leon crowned best
The Seat Leon and Citroen DS3 are the most economical new cars money can buy that have been tested by experts in the last 12 months, according to research from What Car? using its 'true MPG' figures. The east of England dominates list of the 50 rural areas with the highest standard of living in the UK - and Rutland comes top
As well as its picturesque setting, Rutland tops the bill for a range of other factors, bringing it to the top of the annual Halifax Rural Areas Quality of Life Survey. When will interest rates rise? The only way is up, hints Carney, even with inflation down to 0% and heading for negative territory
The next move for interest rates is still expected to be up, says Bank of England Governor Mark Carney, despite suggestions of a cut to beat low inflation. That followed the news earlier this week that inflation had fallen to 0 per cent - noflation or flatflation, as some commentators have tried to label it
Best paid UK jobs 2014: Compare your pay to the national average in the league table of salaries across 350 trades and professions
