Breaking | The CBSA reporting the Ambassador Bridge is temporarily closed as of 11:55 Monday. It’s extremely rare for the Ambassador Bridge, North America’s busiest international crossing, to be completely closed.

We are vulnerable to an assault on our democracy and our sovereignty. It can happen in our capital, at our borders, and we have to focus on how we respond, in real time, while respecting our laws. Do not underestimate the challenge: it is not a spontaneous event.

So what’s the point of permits for things like parades any more? Maybe this year we can just have an “LGBTQ2S Freedom convoy” - or “Santa Claus Freedom convoy”, since apparently we can just block international borders / traffic without consequences?

Trudeau cannot call in the military. The law is clear that it has to be Doug Ford and his attorney general to make that call.

It seems the convoy in Windsor ON has entirely shut down the Ambassador Bridge in both directions. It looks like tailgating more than protest. The Ambassador Bridge sees $500million in trade crossing A DAY. Thousands of Windsorites work in the USA daily. This hurts Windsor.

If you've just wandered into the Ottawa occupation and have no idea what's going on, I put together a brief primer for The Guardian.

hey – wonderful to hear your voice and your wisdom today on automated surveillance in education: "we don't necessarily need to be experts on these systems to have expertise in how they affect us."

If you need evidence of US funding of the occupation, look no further than the collective hue & cry of American politicians when GoFundMe pulled the cash.

haven’t seen much on the impact of the on concept of protest. seems a risk of delegitimating protest for groups with actual, non-blanket governance demands, beyond the obvious risks of this siege mob. Is the distinction being written about? am i missing it?

Yes. "Open access" originally meant free and open. The term was coopted by corporations. Younger generations of scholars have no idea of this. It kills me.

The idea that leaders of all levels of government need to “sit down” with the truckers is goofy. That’s what therapy is for, buds. “I’m sad about the last two years, but toxic masculinity demands I perform my sadness as outrage.” Nice. That’ll be $250. See you next week.
