'Maybe we'll have an Easter baby!' Derick Dillard posts snap of heavily pregnant Jill Duggar as they continue to wait for labour to start at 41 weeks

As Jill Duggar, 23, and Derick Dillard, 25, gear up to celebrate Easter, they hope to also welcome their overdue first child any day now. 

The married couple - whose son was scheduled to arrive on March 24 - continue to wait in much anticipation as Baby Dilly is now close to two weeks past his original due date.

On Saturday, the first-time father shared the latest update on the pregnancy on his social media pages writing: 'Maybe we'll have an Easter baby!'

The photo showed a very pregnant Jill holding a chalkboard sign that read '41 weeks, 4 days' showing her most recent progress.

The student midwife gently placed a hand on her back as she gave a beaming smile to the camera wearing a large dark coloured shirt and striped maxi skirt.

On Friday, the mother-to-be tried to kick start her little one's birth by treating herself to some spicy Mexican food.

'Out to lunch... maybe this spicy Mexican food will make the baby come! Braxton Hicks contractions with this weather so far. We shall see what the weekend brings! #nobabyyet #lunchwithmyhubby,' she captioned a selfie of herself and Derick.

Derick reflected on the pregnancy journey recently on the Dillard family website.

On Thursday, he expressed his excitement about welcoming his baby boy, which some speculated that the labor was underway.

'I can't even describe right now the anticipation I am feeling, as I am about to get to meet my firstborn son for the first time face to face,' he wrote. 

'So many people have already testified that nothing can quite describe that moment and that I'll just have to experience it for myself. When I look around, I can see new life everywhere. The trees are budding, which means summer is near. 

'My wife, Jill, is beginning to have contractions which means that the birth of our son is near.'

Jill's due date with their first child has come and gone with no baby to show of yet.

The 19 Kids And Counting star celebrated her one year anniversary of the day she became engaged to her husband.

The lovebirds shared photos to social media on March 29 commemorating the day Derick proposed.

For the occasion, Jill shared a sweet snap of the special moment with Derick on one knee.

Baby Dilly, as the couple refer to their unborn child, was scheduled to arrive around March 25, only 277 days after their June 21 nuptials.

On March 27,  the soon-to-be-father took to Instagram to share another photo update of his very pregnant wife holding up a chalkboard with the words '40 weeks and 2 days'.

Derick also took to Twitter to announce that he can't wait for this son's arrival, writing: '40 weeks: time to make like a baby and "head out" anytime now, son #BabyDilly [sic].' 

However, his wife has previously revealed that she doesn't see her baby coming anytime this month.

Jill, a trained midwife who has delivered around 30 babies, recently told People that she has named April 5 as her second due date because 'first-time moms often go a week and a half over' their original due date.

Meanwhile, Jill's older brother Josh is expecting their fourth child - a girl - in July. The couple already has one girl, five-year-old Mackynzie as well as two boys, Michael, aged three, and Marcus, aged one.

As for Jill's sister Jessa, who married Ben Seewald in November, rumours have already begun that she is currently with child as well.

A picture of the newlywed couple with their hands making heart shapes over her midsection has been circulating on Twitter.

In a March 4 interview Jessa said, 'We are open to having children biologically whenever God will give us children. We’re not doing anything to prevent that.'

The couple has previously stated they would also like to adopt at some point in the future.
