The former England captain, who turns 40 in May, was spotted enjoying some quality time with his son Romeo, 12, on Friday afternoon.

The pair were enjoying a rare day out just the two of them as they indulged in a shopping spree in West Hollywood.

As they made their way to one of the family's many luxury cars, the father and son duo were seen carrying a handful of Addidas carrier bags – clearly having treated themselves to a thing or two.

David kept his look casual for the outing, stepping out in a plain black T-shirt, Soul Cycle shorts and a pair of trainers.

The former football star finished off his low-key look with a backwards baseball cap.

Meanwhile, his son Romeo, who has become somewhat of a big name in the fashion world having fronted a recent Burberry campaign, opted for a blue tee and faded red shorts.

David, who also has children Brooklyn, 16, Cruz, 10, and Harper, three, with his wife Victoria, is currently enjoying some downtime in Los Angeles with his family after spending years touring the world with hos football career.

His most recent outing came soon after he revealed that he accompanied his son Brooklyn, now 16, on his first ever date when he was 14.

When probed by The Late Late Show host James Corden, who asked, 'He must be getting quite big into the dating circuit now?', Beckham said: ''Yeah, it's happening. He's going to hate me for this.

'I'm fine with it, because on his first date - when he was about 14 - it was Valentine's Day so he said, "I'd love to take this girl to dinner."

'I said, "Okay, great." I spoke to Victoria, and she was like, "Really?", so I said, "Yeah, he's going to do it."

'She said, "Okay, make sure you take him and then make sure you sit in the restaurant." So I was like, "Really, you're going to make me do that?" and she said "Yeah, that's the only way I'm going to let him go."'

'So we took him to a small sushi restaurant and he sat at the sushi bar and I sat about five tables back.

'By the way, my daughter is four years old. When she gets to that age, I will be closer than that!'
