Drunk driver who crashed into Jennifer Lopez last year escapes jail time... but has been sentenced to three years probation

The drunk driver who crashed into Jennifer Lopez last year will not do any jail time.

J-Lo was waiting at a traffic light in Malibu in her brand-new Rolls Royce on September 27 when Robert John Reitz smashed into her from behind.

Her twin children were in the rear of the car at the time, while her friend actress Leah Remini was driving.

Nobody was injured in the collision.

According to TMZ, the 53-year-old Las Vegas resident then fled the scene, but Lopez and Remini managed to give a description of him and his pick up truck, and he was arrested a short distance away.

He had a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent, nearly twice the legal limit, three hours after the crash. 

On March 25 he was sentenced to three years probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, and driving at nearly twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.

He is also set to attend a three-month alcohol rehabilitation program, while Lopez was reportedly awarded $25k in damages.

At the time of the crash, the 45-year-old posted a picture of her and Remini in the car looking disgruntled
