Lindsay Lohan looks downcast as she steps out in plunging blouse and skintight jeans... after being slated for airbrushing her waist thinner in selfie

Lindsay Lohan looked pretty downcast when she jetted into Nice on Friday.

The Mean Girls star just couldn't raise as a smile as she hid her eyes behind an oversized pair of reflective aviator shades.

Stepping out in a pair of skintight jeans, plunging blouse and chic baby blue mac, the 28-year-old seemed glum as she made her way to a nearby taxi.

Of course, if Lindsay wasn't in the chirpiest of moods it would have been perfectly understandable as she had been slammed on Instagram earlier that day.

The actress had posted a selfie with the intention of showing off the results of her new 'waist-training' corset – but matters suddenly went awry.

Some of her more savvy fans quickly noticed distortions in the image that are normally only the result of poorly executed Photoshop.

The set of stairs directly behind the actress appears to be dramatically warped, indicating that she most likely attempted to alter her waistline, which was at the exact same level in the photo.

Lindsay captioned her Twitter picture: 'Just received my waist trainer from @nowaistclique!! #LovingIt http://nowaistclique.com #majorsituation'.

The criticism quickly poured in, with many commenters tweeting sarcastically about the snap.

One Twitter user wrote: 'another photoshop fail'.

While another simply noted sardonically: 'Photoshop is hard'. But a critic under the handle J0nKennedy explained what was actually wrong with the image: 'The photoshopping is hilarious (look at the bottom of the stairs)!'

Lindsay clearly felt embarrassed by the backlash as she has since deleted the controversial snap.
