A modern mermaid! Former Miss Universe Australia Renae Ayris looks ethereal in beachside photo shoot

Renae Ayris looked every inch the beach babe as she posed for an artistic fashion photo shoot recently.

The 24-year-old Perth-born stunner channeled the modern mermaid brief to a tee as she posed delicately on the rocks overlooking the ocean at Sydney's Tamarama Beach.

The shots, for website Summersite, were largely black-and-white which made the blonde beauty appear even more ethereal as her tousled hair fell on her face.

In one striking image, the bronzed beauty stares down the lens, wearing a gold leaf headband with her tresses partially covering her face and sporting a white rope-style strappy top.

In another series of shots, the model is sitting cross legged with her back to the camera as she shows off a backless little black halterneck dress.

Looking over her shoulder in one picture from the set, the blonde's hair falls off to the side, drawing attention to the billowing white material falling down the centre of her back.

The former beauty queen also slipped into a loose-fitting strappy black dress, adding movement as she strolled along the rocks.

Slipping into a white partially unbuttoned shirt dress, the blonde beauty showcased her rather slender arms and legs as she sat on the sand, metres from the shoreline.

Staring seductively down the lens, the model turned up the heat, despite being more covered up in the long-sleeve but partially see through number.

Another artistic close-up featured Renae's face largely covered by her locks as her one visible eye piercing the camera and sand granules standing out down her neck.

Wearing an over-sized black wool hat in another image from the shoot, the 24-year-old demonstrates trans-seasonal dressing, as she teams up the winter staple with a sleeveless keyhole black top and summertime wet tresses.

Photographed and styled by model and photographer Lucinda Taffs, the shots are said to celebrate the Miss Universe Australia 2012's move from the West Coast to the East Coast of the country.
