She has been revealing tidbits of her romantic past in her new tell-all book Going Off Script.

And Giuliana Rancic has revealed some disturbing details about the dark side of one of her early relationships - when she was just a teenager.

The 40-year-old E! host said: 'Yeah, that was a tough one. I was 16, I was already lacking self esteem, like a lot of young girls, to begin with, and I got into a relationship with a boy that I thought was better than me,'

'Not long after we started dating, he became very, very verbally abusive to me. And then it led to, literally, making me look in the mirror and saying, "Look at you. Look how ugly you are. No one will ever love you…"

'And the reason I ended up writing about it is because - and I've never revealed this - but to this day, I still hear his voice say it to me.'

She added: 'When I hear that, his voice, I have to block it out and go, no, no, no, no, no. He was the ugly one. So it's just important to know that it's not how you get kicked down, it's how you recover.

'I look back at my weaknesses as a teenage girl, I realize that my weaknesses back then are my power today,' she concluded.

The 40-year-old E! host said: 'The reason I ended up writing about it is because - and I've never revealed this - but to this day, I still hear his voice say it to me.'

In an excerpt of her upcoming memoir obtained by Page Six, Giuliana also dished the details of her relationship with actor Jerry O'Connell and how he left her for Rebecca Romjin - who he's now married too.

In 2004 the couple attended the Maxim Magazine Hot 100 party in Las Vegas with the E! star remembering: 'Little did I know he was in the VIP area, talking up Rebecca. As a prelude to feeling up Rebecca,'

Following his encounter with the X-Men actress at the party, Jerry became unreachable, and Giuliana decided to talk to him face-to-face at his residence.

There, the actor flippantly dumped her: 'Nope. Sorry, homegirl...Things change, but you take care, OK?'

Revealing: The TV personality visited LinkedIn studios in NYC on Monday to discuss her book

Jerry and Rebecca went on to marry in 2007 and have two children together.

Giuliana - who announced last week she was moving to Chicago - has suffered a new personal blow in her efforts to add to her family of three.

The TV personality and husband Bill Rancic, welcomed son Edward Duke Rancic, via a gestational carrier in 2012.

She explained: 'Everyone's been asking us about our last embryo because we would talk about it on our reality show. We had our final shot at having a baby, a biological child...and unfortunately she did miscarry. It didn't work out.'

The star appeared optimistic when she added: 'But that's okay, there are other options. I've always been open to adoption, even before we had issues. So we're definitely looking at our options.
