Fri 5th to Sun 7th June 2015

The 2015 Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas will be extended to include the Friday, which will focus on non-fiction and incorporate, for the first time, the History Festival of Ireland. Once again the weekend will be one of stimulating dialogue and discussion, gathering together intriguing international minds – historians, novelists, journalists, film-makers, poets, theatre directors, war correspondents, biographers, artists and political commentators. The Festival of Writing and Ideas has become known for its casual, friendly atmosphere, and for its extraordinary line up of speakers –and the beautiful setting of Borris House (and the spectacular village) in the Barrow Valley.

Among the 70-strong list of speakers will be writers Ian McEwan, Michael Cunningham, Belinda McKeon, Kevin Barry, Andrew O’Hagan, Antony Sattin, Rob Doyle, Shane Hegarty, Antony Beevor, AC Grayling, Colin Barrett, Lisa McInerney, Belinda McKeon, and Mary Costello. A strong line-up of musicians appearing at the festival (to speak!) will include David Gilmour, Lisa Hannigan, Donal Lunny, and journalists including Nick Davies, Ben Anderson, Giles Duley, Antony Loyd, Sinead Gleeson will also be present. Details of a number of theatre shows, publishers workshops, and and intriguing pool of leading historians, and plenty of other surprises are to be announced shortly.

The weekend pass does not include camping, although details of accommodation options will be announced shortly, including a variety of boutique pop-up bedrooms.

  • Only three-day passes and single-day passes to this festival are on sale. At the start of April, subject to availability, tickets will be made available to individual talks.
