'This is torture!’ The moment men try on the same waist-training corsets used by Kim Kardashian

Doctors may say it doesn't work, but waist-training corsets – first made popular by Kim Kardashian - are still being widely used by celebrities looking for that enviable hourglass figure.

Yet a group of ‘regular’ guys have discovered that it is far from the most comfortable way to whittle down a waist.

In a recent comedic clip for Cosmopolitan, various male staff members and New York-based comedians are seen being roped - literally - into $79 waist-training corsets, and discomfort sets in fast.

'Is this where you crush my bones?' asks Derreck Heritage, one of the concerned men as a petite grey-haired woman tugged the corset tight.

'This is honestly a form of torture I think they used in the Middle Ages,' he adds.

Some of the men complain of not being able to breath, and another asks: 'Is it weird that I'm not feeling my knees right now?'

The young lady roping them into their contraptions makes sure there is no wiggle room for the guys or their respective guts by pulling the strings tight - even leveraging a stiletto-clad foot against one of the men to secure the best results .

'Aw man. That is tight. That is super tight!' he says.

Some of the participants seem genuinely worried as they are secured in the corsets. Cosmo Sex Editor Frank Kobolo quips: 'Do we have a knife or something in case you need to cut me out of this?'

'Is it weird that I'm not feeling my knees right now?' adds comic Miguel Dalmau

Organ-crushing aside, the results are dramatic. New York comedian T.J. Mannix even catches a glimpse of himself in a mirror and exclaims 'Oh my God!'

'I should have rolls of fat coming out of my fingers. Where's it going?' he adds.

No pain no gain: Well... sometimes the gain just isn't worth it. 'I've had broken ribs and I prefer that over this'

Some of the men even enjoy their new shapes - albeit coming with strange feelings.

'It feels like my bellybutton and my back are starting to, like, meet,' says Miguel. 'My chest looks bigger though. Hello ladies!'

Others comment on the posture-correction benefits of the shapers, saying they felt more confident.

As for whether it's a must-have beauty product, Derreck's conclusion was: 'Ladies, just be yourself. You don't need this!

Of course, there is a lot more to waist-training than just wearing a corset. Celebrities from Lindsay Lohan to Jenni 'JWoww' Farley have donned them while doing exercises in order to 'train' the waist to look slimmer.

'Hello ladies!' Not all the guys hated the affects, like Miguel Dalmau (picture) who thought the shaper exaggerated his chest nicely

The look has been even more popularized by Lily James' unbelievably slim middle in the new Cinderella film, which she credits to ultra-constricting corsets and a liquid diet.

But doctors claim that the effects are simply not worth the risk of harm.

Speaking to Women's Health, clinical professor of ob-gyn at Yale School of Medicine Mary Jane Minkin, explained that: 'Medically, it doesn’t make sense that cinching your waist tightly will make it permanently smaller.

'Once you take the garment off, your body will return to its usual shape.

'It’s also uncomfortable, restricts your movements, and if you wear it really tight, it can even make it difficult to breathe and theoretically could cause rib damage.'
