Police say four people in their 70s and 80s have been found dead in a New York City home in an apparent carbon monoxide poisoning after a car was left running in an attached garage.

Police say the victims were a couple in their 80s, a 70-year-old tenant and a 76-year-old friend. Officials say they were found Friday afternoon when a relative of the couple went to check on them because they hadn't answered their phone.

The husband was found next to a running car in the garage. The Cape Cod-style, two-story home is in the Floral Park neighborhood, next to Long Island's Nassau County.

A neighbor says the couple had five children. She says they were "wonderful people" active in the local German community.

An Air Force major general has been formally reprimanded and removed from his job for telling a group of officers that talking to Congress in a bid to block retirement of the A-10 Warthog amounted to "treason," the Air Force said on Friday.

An investigation of remarks by Major General James Post III, who was the vice commander of Air Combat Command, found that his words to some 300 airmen at Nellis Air Force Base on Jan. 10 may have had a "chilling effect" on some of them, convincing them not to speak with lawmakers.

Representative Mac Thornberry, chairman of the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, said the Air Force action against Post was "important and correct."

"Members of Congress must be able to receive unfiltered facts and opinions from service members...," he said in a statement. "Attempts to prevent or restrict that communication cannot be allowed."

A wake was held Friday in South Carolina for Walter Scott, who was shot and killed last Saturday by North Charleston police officer Michael Slager. His funeral will be Saturday.

Now fired and charged with murder, Slager remains at the Charleston County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing. His attorney says the ex-cop is being held in an isolation unit, for his own protection.

On Friday, Slager's wife Jamie -- who is eight-and-a-half-months pregnant -- and his mother, Karen Sharpe, were able to see him for the first time since he was charged. Sharpe told CBS News she's worried.
He's a wonderful person, he's very sharing, very caring. He and his wife are having a baby very shortly," Sharpe said.

"I'm anxious about that -- he won't be there for the birth, so I'm worried about her," Sharpe continued. "This is not how you would think it would ever be."

Pic shows: Uzbehanova Marjane Abilovna.\n\nMilitary officials in Borat¿s homeland Kazakhstan have introduced a Miss Army competition to encourage more people to sign up for duty.\n\nThe Kazakhstani Ministry of Defence has chosen 123 of its prettiest female soldiers and posted their photos online where viewers can vote for their faves.\n\nThe photos show the women posing in three set poses: one with military uniform, one with weapons and one in civilian clothes - and they have already been seen by over 30,000.\n\nA spokesman for the MOD said: "Voting began this week and the competition is open until the 10th of May.\n\n"We¿ve been flooded with views and the clear favourite at the moment is Sergeant Aigerin Karakuchukova who is in the lead with over 1,100 votes.\n\n"There is still a long way to go though and anyone could win."\n\nThe spokesman revealed that the competition was also open to voters not only from Kazakhstan but also neighbouring countries Krygystan, Azerbaijan and Russia.\
