'There are few shows on television as strong and iconic as Millionaire,' the presenter said as the news was announced. 'This is a great fit and I’m extremely excited and honored to take on this new endeavor.'

'Chris is an accomplished host and valued member of the Disney/ABC family, and now he'll also be bringing his classic talent and charm to Millionaire,' said Janice Marinelli, President of Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution.

It said the Expendables star 'is unable to continue on with Millionaire due to his successful and demanding film and primetime TV projects'.

As well as hosting Fox’s clip show comedy World’s Funniest Fails and a lead role in Brooklyn Nine Nine, Crews is also working on two films; upcoming action flick Aztec Warrior, and Adam Sandler's comedy western The Ridiculous Six, scheduled for release in 2016.

Harrison becomes the fifth presenter of the franchise, following Crews, Cedric The Entertainer, Meredith Vieira and its original host Regis Philbin.

Regis held the post when the show was first adapted from the UK version, from 1999 to 2002, when Vieira took over for 11 seasons until 2013.

Producers than tried a different approach of putting actors in the chair, but after only a season each with Cedric and Terry, Harrison's appointment sees a return to a traditional pro host.

As well as all 19 seasons of The Bachelor, the Texan has also previously hosted game shows You Deserve It and Mall Masters; Designers Challenge; the red carpet at the 2012 Primetime Emmys and the 2011 American Music Awards; plus he has presented ABC's Miss America pageant for the past four years.
