'I'm pretty devastated': Florence Welch reveals she broke her foot after jumping off the stage at Coachella... but insists she'll keep performing

Florence Welch has broken her foot after leaping off the stage during a performance at the Coachella Music Festival at the weekend.

The British singer, lead singer of indie group Florence And The Machine, took to the stage at the music event held in Indio, California on Sunday, and wowed the crowds with a particularly energetic set.

But it went awry when she leapt off the stage a little too hard, damaging her foot.

On Tuesday, the 28-year-old revealed her injury on Instagram to her fans, along with an X-ray of her foot, but insisted she'll still be performing at her upcoming scheduled gigs.

'Hi everyone, I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage,' she explained.

'Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back. I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows.

'I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you.

'By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet.

'This album was so much about making something from what was broken, so lets see what we can do with this. All my love, Florence.'

At the popular festival, which saw the red-haired star take to the stage in a crisp white trouser suit, she gave revellers a preview of songs from her new album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.

And she's also set to return for the second weekend of Coachella, but the canny hitmaker has insisted she'll be OK to take to the stage once again.

The news of her broken foot comes as it's revealed she's going to appear at Glastonbury festival in the UK in June.

She also has several dates to perform in the UK and the US in the run-up to the most prestigious summer music event on them all, but she'll soldier on regardless.

Meanwhile, the ethereal star has been busy working on the upcoming release of her third studio album, which will happen in June.

Speaking of How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, Florence explained in a statement: 'I guess although I've always dealt in fantasy and metaphor when I came to writing, that meant the songs this time were dealing much more in reality.

'Ceremonials was so fixated on death and water, and the idea of escape or transcendence through death, but the new album became about trying to learn how live, and how to love in the world rather than trying to escape from it.

'Which is frightening because I'm not hiding behind anything but it felt like something I had to do.'
