New mum Blake Lively slips into a bright Sixties mini dress to display her slender post-baby frame and long legs

Blake Lively was certainly feeling bright and beautiful on Thursday night.

Slipping into a sunshine yellow Sixties mini, the blonde couldn't mask a high-energy smile as she stepped out in Los Angeles alone.

The 27-year-old new mum of one rocked a David Koma dress with conviction, perfectly displaying her slender post-baby frame.

It was a solo trip for the Age Of Adaline star, who is currently on a promotional tour for her first film since the birth of three-month-old daughter James with husband Ryan Reynolds.

Blake didn't look like a starlet who had not long since given birth when she accentuated her slender middle with the Sixties-inspired dress.

She put on a leggy display in giant-gem towering heels as the dress skimmed over her hips into a short flared skirt.

The actress styled beachy waves into her golden tresses and with hands on hips couldn't stop beaming as she was photographed at the event.

Age Of Adaline, the beauty's hotly-anticipated new release, sees her frozen in time at the age of 29 in a film that spans eight decades as she watches her daughter and her husband grow old.

Now, along with husband Ryan, the actress has decided to step back into the spotlight not long after they welcomed their first child - and inevitably the questions have been flooding in about their new family.

Blake was forced to laugh off rumours that Ryan burst into tears at the birth of their child last week.

During a new sit-down interview with PopSugar, the interviewer referred to reports that the 38-year-old actor had compared himself to a 'human sprinkler head.

The 27-year-old actress cracked up before responding, 'Um, I don't know if that's an accurate description. He is charming. He does come up with funny things. No, he was not crying that much.'

Blake was there for a promotional appearance with her Age Of Adaline co-star Michiel Huisman, but delved more into her personal life.

The Gossip Girl star has previously said how amazing her childhood was because of her charming mother, so she was naturally asked how she plans on replicating those traits for the sake of her own daughter.

'Bring my mom around,' Blake joked. 'I do all the same things my mom did but just a quarter as well.'

The actress and lifestyle guru discussed more about motherhood in Allure Magazine's May issue.

The working mum gushed about following her dreams and the fact that breast-feeding is now a 'full-time job,' joking: 'I’m, like, driving down the road, pumping.'

The mother-of-one added: 'I feel like I've figured out the most important thing to me, and everything supports that.'

One of those things is her lifestyle website Preserve, which she started while on a hiatus from acting after Gossip Girl concluded in 2012.

'It taps into so many of my own passions, but it also is a business that I can control,' the blonde beauty explained.

'If I can be successful at this, I have security for my family and my babies,' she continued. 'I'm in a profession, acting, where it's really for-hire - I offer a service that people hire out. I love it, but it's not something I can control.'

Speaking of control, the actress waited seven months before revealing her pregnancy, which she did in a tender post on her website.

'That was my way of owning that moment,' Blake said of the reveal. 'It was important for us. It was a struggle, because we want to keep our privacy, but we also don't want our lives to be exploited by other people. So we did it simply; it was a quiet way, an elegant way.'

The couple also famously took their time in sharing new daughter James' name, keeping mum on the topic in interviews.

'It's her life,' The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star reasoned. 'She should have her privacy until she chooses not to have her privacy, just as I got to choose and my husband got to choose.'

The busy mom discussed balancing the different aspects of her life, but was hesitant to say she wanted to 'have it all.'

'Most of the things I do are all-consuming, but somehow I find a way to do it all,' she said. 'But it's dangerous to dilute that to a catchphrase.'

She continued: 'Having it all could be having a happy, healthy family, and you could be a mom who stays at home, and that is the most admirable thing you could do.'

'Or it could be having a profession that you really believe in, and not having a family, and doing what fulfills you.'

She was weary of such sound bites, adding: 'If it's not a part of a conversation with someone face-to-face, those bites are why women tear each other apart or why the media will tear people apart.'

Most recently the actress starred in The Age of Adaline - which premieres April 24 - as a woman who survives a car accident and is suddenly rendered immortal.

The actress noted of her role: 'People are obsessed with beauty and youth and with looking and feeling young forever.'

Blake continued: 'But look at a woman who is granted that: She's trapped, because it's tragic to be young forever. And also, having a child makes you realize that we pass on for a reason. You think, I have to go, because it makes room for you.'
