Unreasonable parking charges are the most loathed fees levied upon Britons on a daily basis, research has shown. The cost for parking in busy cities and towns, along with other expensive areas such as hospitals means it heads the top ten list in a survey of more than 2,000 people for Direct Line. FTSE CLOSE: Footsie holds onto modest gains as Wall Street slides and Greece money woes worsen
The FTSE 100 closed up 10.80 points at 7062.93 but the market was well off early highs as the deepening crisis in Greece eats away at investor confidence. German and French markets also finished in the black today, but the Dow Jones swiftly gave up early gains to trade down 72.9 points at 17,962.1. US investor sentiment took a hit from weaker than expected retail sales data and corporate warnings that a surging dollar was dampening earnings.

MONEY NEWS & ADVICE
As more music fans turn the tables in the vinyl revival... here's the ten most valuable records in the world
With interest in vinyl records on the rise, the long-standing market for collectible records is being given a new lease of life. The renewed interest will prompt many to question whether the records clogging up attics, boot fairs or lounge are worth anything. Is there a rare gem lurking in your collection - and what are the most valuable vinyl records?
New cars, please: Jaguar serves up a doubles act to supply 170 cars for Wimbledon - including the new XE
Jaguar's new XE and XF saloons, XF Sportbrake estate and range-topping XJ models will be working as chauffeur and support vehicles at this year's Championships. Chelsea football manager and Jaguar Ambassador José Mourinho launched Jaguar's partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) as he was given a tour of the legendary courts in London SW19 - including Centre Court - by committee member and Former British No. 1 tennis star Tim Henman.
New EU rules could stall Britons buying homes abroad with foreign mortgages - and make it trickier for some to buy in Britain
New rules mapped out by the European Union could be about to make it much harder for thousands of Britons to snap up a holiday home on the continent from next March. The Mortgage Credit Directive regulations could also make it more difficult for British workers who receive a portion of their wages in a foreign currency to obtain lending here, experts have warned.
How to buy a classic car for less than £10k: Jane's Triumph isn't quite this Ferrari - but she did save herself £22,996,000
Top classic motors went up by more than 15% last year, according to the Historic Automobile Group International index. Jane Rowley owns four Triumphs - and says its driving them that matters. It's not just the top end of the industry that is booming, interest has surged for more minor classics too, so what should you look out for if you'd like to get a hobby - or an investment.

Is this the line the City won't cross? Adultery site Ashley Madison finds brokers rejecting its float bid
A dating website for married people that calls itself the 'Google of cheating' has made hard-nosed brokers say they feel 'queasy' about getting involved. Institutions that pump pension pots into companies are known to be reticent, and previous attempts to float the company on overseas stock markets have been pulled after ethical concerns scared away investors.
Jockey Club events hit right notes as it posts record annual turnover of £171.2million
Live music at the races including Jessie J and Dizzee Rascal has helped the Jockey Club post record annual turnover of £171.2million, up by 5.1 per cent year-on-year. What do politicians claim they will do for you? A General Election guide to the battle for your finances
We look at the impact each of the three main parties' measures could have on your finances if they form the next Government. All claim that they will make Britain a better place, but they have a variety of ways that they reckon they can do it. From housing, to families and tax, here's what they say.
The five-year fixed rate mortgage heads below 2%! HSBC launches record-breaking home loan as costs keep tumbling
HSBC has pushed five-year fixed rate mortgages to their lowest ever level, allowing homeowners to lock in at a rate of just 1.99 per cent. A homeowner taking the new record-breaking deal for a £150,000 25-year repayment mortgage could save £14,500 over that five year period compared to what they would have paid on the 4.99 per cent five-year fixed rates commonly found before the financial crisis.
CITY INTERVIEW: 'Britain leaving EU would be an absolute disaster', says Richard Branson
Sir Richard Branson has issued a stark warning to the British public. With the country's place in Europe under debate, Ukip continuing to draw support, and the Conservatives promising an in-out referendum should they win the Election, he is unequivocal. 'I'm a believer in Europe and I think for Britain to pull out would be an absolute disaster,' he says. 'If there are things we don't like about Europe then let's sort them out.' So Nigel Farage should not hold his breath waiting for a donation from Branson's Virgin empire.
'Don't expect buy-to-let's interstellar gains to be repeated - 1996 was a much better time to invest in property than today'
Astonishing claims of a 1,400% return over the past two decades are built on borrowed money but there's another important point to consider - property was unloved and cheap in 1996. That made buy-to-let a turbocharged value investment. Investors could still do well today, but they shouldn't expect a repeat of the past.
The Diary of a Private Investor: Biotech stands accused of being a bubble but I'm holding on for now - and making money
Before the dotcom bubble I had only really heard of two bubbles before - Dutch tulip mania of the 17th century and the South Sea Bubble a hundreds year later. Now they are everywhere it seems. The general definition of a bubble is when prices are at considerable variance to intrinsic value or have lost touch with reality. I don't think biotech is there yet.
The Investing Show: What next for the Footsie, buy-to-let returns, and how to invest when markets are riding high
In the second episode of our new Investing Show, we take a look at what next for the FTSE 100, what a potential US rate rise would mean for investors, and the temptation of buy-to-let returns. In this show special guest Justin Urquhart Stewart, of Seven Investment Management, discusses how to invest when markets are riding high.
Britain faces a 'very real housing crisis': Homes shortage will continue to inflate property prices, experts warn
A shortage of property for sale is adding to pressure on house prices, despite a recent slowdown in activity and the London property market coming off the boil. House prices are tipped to rise 2.5% this year and 4.5% a year for the next five years, by RICS, which has warned the next government must address the UK's property problem.
