Sam the magic man! Singer Smith unleashes his inner wizard as he visits the Hobbiton film set of Lord Of The Rings trilogy...but looks more like Harry Potter

British singer Sam Smith seems to be quite the fan of magical fantasy, embarking on an Instagram posting spree on Tuesday with snaps of himself at New Zealand's Hobbiton.

The 22-year-old musician who is touring the country, showed his love for the Lord Of The Rings film trilogy and its sister films franchise The Hobbit, as he posed as different characters on the set situated on New Zealand's North Island in Matamata.

But while the Stay With Me singer described the visit to the tourist attraction as the 'best day of my life', he seemed to look a little more like Daniel Radcliffe's Harry Potter character thanks to his bold, black framed spectacles.

Sporting a black and white striped shirt teamed with a pair of light shorts, the award-winning star's first photo from his Hobbiton visit showed him excitedly sitting underneath the attraction's welcome sign.

'THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING,' read the enthusiastic caption on the snap of an open-mouthed Sam sitting on a wooden bench.

He certainly didn't waste time immersing himself into the Hobbit style life, his next photo showing him getting into character.

Propping a floppy grey wizard's hat on his head, Sam clutched onto the famous staff of character Gandalf, imitating the wizard's remarkable pose.

'I feel like Frodo,' he wrote alongside this particular snap, referring to the film character Frodo Baggins, famously played by actor Elijah Wood in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Joined by a member from his publicity team, the singer visited the Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn and The Mill of Hobbiton.

And it seems the more time he spent at the tourist attraction, of which construction commenced in 1999, the least inclined the musician was to leave.

'Hobbit activities. Sorry for so many pics I just love it here haha,' he wrote to his Instagram followers.

He later captioned another snap: 'I would chop off my toe to live here and be a hobbit x'.

Sharing a final breathtakingly beautiful black and white snap of the attraction spanning 1250 acres, Sam wrote: 'What a day. I am coming again. Until then I'm actually gonna build my own hobbit house. No joke x.'

Sam is clearly enjoying his trip as he has been posting photos of the rest of New Zealand's beautiful scenery to Instagram including some taken at Lion Rock at Piha Beach, close to Auckland.

Smith kicks off his tour in Auckland on Wednesday and then begins his Australian tour in Brisbane on Saturday.
