Also speaking out about her experiences as a victim of bullying in high school, Shanina told The Daily Telegraph last year: 'I would come home from school and cry every day. Eventually I stopped going to school and my grades fell'.

Indeed it was her mother Kim who helped her through the tough times.

'I was tired of it and I told my mum. She went to the school and told the teachers and things started to change,' Shanina explained.

In another recent interview with Life And Times last month, Shanina acknowledged many of the nasty comments made towards her were due to her mixed ethnicity.

'Because of my skin color and the hip-hop music I liked, I was picked on. I was considered ‘Black’ in our friendship group and therefore not good enough for them,' she revealed.

Strutting the runway for the luxurious lingerie line since, Shanina's career seems to be going from strength-to-strength, with ambassador titles for brands like Just Jeans also under her belt.
