'It's finished. It's not just a break': Emma Stone 'ended things' with ex Andrew Garfield as 'he'd been in a dark place for months'

And that may have been the last time Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were seen as a couple before The Amazing Spider-Man co-stars reportedly separated.
The 26-year-old actress 'ended things' with her 31-year-old former beau of three years because 'he'd been in a dark place for months,' according to Us Weekly.

'It's finished. It's not just a break,' an insider revealed in the April 27 issue of the publication. 'She ended things and moved back to Los Angeles.'
In the latest weeks, Emma has been spotted out and about in LA looking happy and healthy to and from her exercise gym.
One contributing factor to their split may be the long distance relationship they had tried to sustain while Andrew has been in Taiwan filming the upcoming Martin Scorsese film Silence since January.

'He'd been in a dark place for months, getting into his role,' the source added about the British actor, who lost over 40 pounds for the role.
'He wasn't being the best partner.'
In summer 2011, Emma and Andrew transitioned their on-screen romance into their real lives soon after production wrapped on The Amazing Spider-Man.
'He's thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else,' a separate source told People recently.

Nowadays, the redhead beauty appears to be keeping her head down in her work.
Most recently, Emma wrapped up production on her latest film project Aloha, co-starring Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdams.
In addition, she just signed on to serve as leading lady in the Danny Boyle-produced film Battle Of The Sexes about the iconic tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs.
On top of that Emma has two new movies on the horizon including drama Irrational Man and animated sequel The Croods 2.
