Mark Wahlberg hands homeless man $100 bill as he leaves lunch with wife Rhea Durham in Beverly Hills 

He's always been open about the troubles in his own past.

And on Thursday actor Mark Wahlberg, 43, showed he is as keen to help others who have hit hard times. 

The generous-hearted star pressed a $100 dollar bill into the hand of a homeless man outside the restaurant he dined with friends in Beverly Hills.

The Gambler actor joined his wife, Rhea Durham, and friends for lunch at E.Baldi, before spotting the down-on-his-luck gent waiting outside by the valet. 

He looked fit and trim casually dressed in a t-shirt and combat pants, with tan work boots as he left the venue.

The Ted 2 star, who was also seen kissing his beautiful 36-year-old model wife as they dined at the Tuscan pizzeria, has developed a reputation as a good Samaritan.

He's active with The Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children which provides food, clothing, shelter and supportive services to some of the community’s most vulnerable members.  

The Gambler star is also supporting The Safe Kids Day fundraiser in Los Angeles on Sunday. 

Sharon Stone and Drew Barrymore are serving as co-chairs of the event alongside Mark and Rhea.

The couple have been together since 2001 and married in Beverly Hills in 2009. 

They have four children together, Ella 11, Michael, 9. Brendan, 6, and 5-year-old Grace.

CBS Films announced earlier this month that the Boston native is set to produce a feature film titled Patriots's Day about the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

The story will be based on the first-hand account of Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis who played a central role with other law enforcement agencies as they tracked, identified and apprehended the bombers who killed three and injured hundreds.

Mark also has been cast in Deepwater Horizon based on the infamous 2010 explosion of a BP oil-rig in the Gulf of Mexico that killed 11 and gushed oil into the water for 87 days creating the worst oil spill in US history.

Dylan O'Brien and Kurt Russell also have been cast in the film due out in September 2016.
