In Hollywood, where marriages come and go quickly, 12 years is an eternity.

And not only have Elizabeth Berkley, 42, and her 45-year-old husband Greg Lauren been wed since 2003, the pair are clearly happier than ever.

They were spotted leaving New York eatery The Polo Lounge on Wednesday night, hand in hand, after a romantic dinner date.

Nostalgic: The date came just after Elizabeth took to Instagram to reminisce about her flop movie Showgirls which was roundly derided by moviegoers and critics upon its release two decades ago

Elizabeth had a smile on her face as her handsome spouse led her out of the restaurant following their meal.

Elizabeth - who has a two-year-old son Sky with Greg - looked stunning in black trousers, a white shirt and sandals while Greg kept it casual in an unusual baggy jacket, black trousers and battered boots.

The date came just after Elizabeth took to Instagram to reminisce about her flop movie Showgirls.

While it was roundly derided by moviegoers and critics upon its release, it has gained cult status in the two decades since it was first released and Elizabeth was clearly feeling nostalgic.

She posted a picture of her character Nomi and wrote: 'This was a rare moment during the filming of #showgirls where the director let the camera run and captured my authentic longing for my own dream to be a performer...

'In turn he captured #nomi's longing, while watching the star of the show, Crystal .. I like this moment because it was a tiny moment in a scene where I wasn't being pupeteered to mimic exact direction that was ultimately extreme and cartoon-ish. Elizabeth's attitude to the movie has changed over the years, and she admitted previously that she was so humiliated by the flop that it made her stop dancing for a long time.

She told Variety: 'It was a bit of a difficult time for me personally, because a lot of doors were shut at that time.

'I had to find my strength and my confidence and go back out there again. I think that because it was so criticised, it was humiliating– doing anything that was connected to the film was not fun.'

However, Elizabeth returned to dance with a triumphant appearance on Dancing With The Stars in 2013, which saw her only knocked out just before the semi-finals.
