'I've never followed a diet, I love food': Helena Christensen, 46, poses topless as she credits supermodel figure to a 'good metabolism'

If one thing's for sure, Helena Christensen knows how to work the camera to show off her best side.

And in a brand new shoot, she has done it again, wowing in a stunning set of pictures while writhing on the sand and posing in the sea for French fashion magazine Madame Figaro.

Looking impeccable and far younger than her 46 years, the Danish model and photographer goes nearly nude in one shot, wearing nothing but a pair of tiny shorts almost the same shade as her honeyed skin.

Covering her chest with one arm as she lifts her brunette tresses off her face, she is a welcome addition to the new issue of the publication.

Another image from the striking editorial, photographed by Fred Meylan on the idyllic beaches of Saint Martin in the Caribbean, showed her flaunting her enviable figure in little more than a mesh cami top and very skimpy bikini briefs.

With her svelte frame and endless limbs on show in the 11-page spread, Helena looks the epitome of Amazonian glamour and grace.

So it's hard to believe that - in a world obsessed with image and losing weight - she has never been on a diet in her life, and rather attributes her enviable physique to an effective metabolism and love of high-octane sports.

'I never followed any diet, I love good food,' she confessed.

'I have a good metabolism. I started doing sports quite late, around 30 years. 

'I started because I wanted to feel more toned. I hate endurance sports, it would be impossible for me to run a marathon. I love the intense sports, such as boxing or sprint ' 

The dark-haired beauty, a former Victoria's Secret Angel, also said she loves to keep fit while spending time with her musician partner Paul Banks, and her son Mingus, from a previous relationship.

'I like to spend time outdoors with my son and my partner, or leave for the weekend to the mountains north of New York to run outside,' she said.

Although her modelling career has taken a bit of a back seat in recent years as she focuses on her work as a photographer, designer and fragrance connoisseur, the new shoot proves she's still definitely got what it takes to be a top model.

Helena hit the international modelling stage in the late 1980s after she represented Denmark in the 1986 Miss Universe pageant.

She quickly became a star and appeared in magazines like Vogue and Elle, as well as in marketing campaigns for Victoria's Secret, Revlon, and many others. 

Along with her modelling success in the 1990s, Helena also featured in one of the 'sexiest' (according to an MTV poll) videos of all time: Chris Isaak's Wicked Games in 1991 - in fact, the brand new shoot is reminiscent of that iconic clip.

More recently, Helena has diversified her work further, starting a career in photography as well as starting a line of lingerie in 2012.

Helena has continued to lend her face to advertising and magazines too, appearing recently on the cover of the February 2015 issue of Marie Claire, as well as a recent shoot for Spanish newspaper El Pais.
