'There's definite chemistry!' Gillian Anderson 'asks Chris Martin out on a date'

He's eight years her junior but despite her insistence that she is not interested in younger men, Gillian Anderson has reportedly fallen for Chris Martin's charms.

The Sun newspaper reports that the 46-year-old actress recently asked the 38-year-old Coldplay singer out on a date and the pair have 'definite chemistry'.

A source told the paper: 'They're an unlikely combination but there's definitely chemistry between them.'

MailOnline has contacted reps for both for comment.

Meanwhile, if Chris does accept Gillian's alleged offer, he is unlikely to reveal details with pals insisting he likes to keep his romances low-key.

The insider said: 'Chris has always been keen to keep his personal life private so, as expected, the blossoming romance is very low-key.'

'His pals are intrigued to see if it turns into a bigger deal.' 

However, Gillian could be out of luck as Chris is believed to be dating Silver Linings Playbook star Jennifer Lawrence.

He and wife Gwyneth Paltrow announced they were 'consciously uncoupling' in March 2014 and over a year later they have finalised their divorce, according to a report from TMZ.

The documents are reportedly signed and will be filed on Monday. 

Sources tell the site the divorce was amicable.

They have been using their business managers to work out a settlement agreement involving both property and custody.

A judge should be signing off the divorce shortly, it was added.

The settlement is confidential settlement but insiders claim there were no big problems with money or custody of their two children 10-year-old Apple and Moses aged nine.

The Iron Man actress and Coldplay frontman married in December 2003. 

In April 2014 Martin told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe that he had to work on himself.

'I wouldn't use the word breakdown,' Martin said about the end of his marriage.

'This was more a realisation about trying to grow up basically… if you can't open yourself up, you can't appreciate the wonder inside.

'So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way.'
