Big Ben chiming and a black cab beeping: British sounds in £2.5m tourism campaign
The pouring of a cup of tea, a black cab beeping and the chimes of Big Ben are all sounds featuring in a new £2.5m tourism campaign aiming to attract more global visitors to Britain.
London’s The Goring – the hotel Kate Middleton stayed at the
night before her wedding to Prince William – Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, and
Stonehenge in Wiltshire are among the landmarks appearing in VisitBritain’s Sounds Of Great Britain advert.

Encompassing all-things quintessentially British, the film, which will be broadcast on TV and online from today, will be aired in key markets in the US, Brazil, China, India, Gulf states and across Europe.
The soundtrack for the upbeat advert is Brit Award-nominated Rudimental's Feel The Love.
The TV advert features a range of people, locations and experiences, including a Dartmouth Steam Train, the sound of a Wimbledon tennis crowd, the atmosphere at LoveBox festival and the striking medieval fortification at Caerphilly Castle.
Online, viewers can create their own version of the film and share it across social media platforms.

Joss Croft, Marketing Director at VisitBritain, told MailOnline Travel: 'From the crunching of a poppadum at a curry house in the Midlands to the chimes of Big Ben and the roar of a Wimbledon tennis crowd, the sounds of Great Britain are synonymous to people across the world.
'In a British tourism first, we are enabling people to create their own British experience – first online where they can become the director of their own bespoke tourism ad, and then in reality following their individual journey across Britain according to their own interests and inspirations. This ad is something a little bit different and we hope it conveys the humour and character of a modern, confident Britain.’
Vicky Jacobs, Managing Director at RKCR/Y&R, the agency behind the campaign, said: ‘We’re inviting users to explore the rich diversity of Britain through sound - both the sounds of individual British locations and the soundtrack of Rudimental, who really do represent the eclectic contemporary Sounds of Great Britain.’
