SPOILER ALERT: EastEnders' Shirley Carter cuts The Queen Vic's licensee plate in half... as Linda looks on in horror

The names above The Queen Vic's doors are the holy grail for Walford residents.

But Shirley Carter is due to saw the prestigious licencees sign into two parts in Thursday night's episode of EastEnders, when she decides the feuding family can no longer work together.

In the aftermath of patriarch Stan Carter's death, the Carters have been left in two camps, with pub landlord Mick Carter heading up one camp and his mother Shirley on the other.

The family's ongoing disagreement over payment for Stan's funeral is expected to come to a climax in this week - on what looks like the day of his send off.

With Linda and Mick dressed in black behind the bar, it seems that the family have returned to the pub for one final drink before Shirley takes matters into her own hands.

She decides that the two divisions can no longer run the pub together and forcibly cuts the licencee sign in half.

And a heavily pregnant Linda does not look best pleased as she's seen looking on in horror at Shirley's display, alongside the other punters.

Shirley, putting down her mask and handheld saw, revels in the drama as she hands one half back to the family.

Ever since Mick's wife Linda revealed this Christmas that Shirley's son Dean Wicks raped her, there has been animosity within the Carters.

It was made even worse when Mick subsequently discovered the two men were half-brothers.

Shirley has steadfastly taken Dean's side on matters and it has left the family feuding and it looks like there's no plans for the stubborn Walford residents to reconcile.

Viewers will remember that when Linda and Mick ran away together just after Christmas they returned to find Shirley behind the bar, running the show, which was much to Mick and Linda's distaste.
