New parents Liv Tyler and Dave Gardner spend a rare night off mummy and daddy duty as they enjoy date at the ballet before hitting the Chiltern Firehouse

They've been conducting a long-distance romance for over a year now.

After spending the past few months at her home in New York City, new mother Liv Tyler is back in London on her rumoured fiance Dave Gardner's home turf.

Having just arrived in the British capital this week, Liv, 37, wasted no time in spending some quality time with her man as they enjoyed a night at the ballet, before hitting Marylebone hotspot, The Chiltern Firehouse.

Liv and Dave, 38, were just two of a host of celebrity guests in attendance at the opening night of Audi presents La Fille Mal Gardee at The Royal Opera House on Thursday.

The actress, who gave birth to their son Sailor in February, covered up her figure in a loose-fitting white maxi dress, which she teamed with a black blazer.

On her left hand was the rumoured engagement ring she has been wearing since January, although the pair are yet to confirm if they are planning to wed.

Also in attendance at the ballet were Jeremy Piven, Gemma Arterton, Colin Firth, Dominic Cooper, Anna Friel, Will Young and Jamie and Louise Redknapp. 

Liv and London-based Dave started dating in early 2014 after apparently being introduced by mutual friend Kate Moss.

However, their romance only became public knowledge last summer, with Liv's pregnancy being revealed soon after.

Although the pair spend a lot of time together, their respective elder sons' schooling in the UK and US meant they aren't always able to live together full-time.

Liv has a 10-year-old son Milo from her marriage to English rocker Royston Langston, which ended in 2008.

Meanwhile Dave - who is best friends with David Beckham - has an eight-year-old son Gray from his previous marriage to heiress and ex-Hollyoaks actress Davinia Taylor.

After confirming her pregnancy last September, Liv gave birth to Sailor six weeks early on February 11.

Their son had to spend two weeks in hospital before he was allowed home with his parents.
