Birmingham eye move for £3m rated Reading hitman Shane Long

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish is considering a £3million bid for Reading's Irish striker Shane Long.

McLeish, who also wants Jay Bothroyd and Kris Boyd, has watched Long, 23, rediscover his form after an indifferent start to the season.

The Birmingham City boss will also offer veteran goalkeeper David James the chance to stay in the Premier League next season.

McLeish will need a new stopper as loanne Joe Hart is set to return to Manchester City at the end of the campaign.
