The news will be particularly welcome after it was revealed that Peta had a cervical cancer scare in 2013 - just weeks before her wedding last year.

The 27-year-old said she was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery after a smear test showed abnormal results.

The mum-of-two told her Twitter followers she was telling her story as a warning to women not to risk their lives by putting off having a smear test.

‘I was one of the people that put it off & thought I'd always be ok & a couple of months before my wedding last year I got a severe test result.

She added: ‘Within the week I was in hospital having surgery. I was in complete shock, if I had ignored it a few months more things would have been very different for me & my family.'

Fortunately, despite her cancer scare, Peta looked radiant when she tied the knot with Mark at One Mayfair, a restored former church in central London, in October, 2013.

The couple have a daughter called Delilah Grace born in April 2012. Peta also has a son, Finnbar, from a previous relationship.

Isle of Man-born Mark, dubbed the Manx Missile, is one of the world's greatest road racers, with a host of Tour de France stage victories to his name.

His most successful year on his bike was 2011 when he became the first British cyclist to win the Points Classification at the Tour de France winning the Green Jersey.

He also won the UCI Road Race World title, ending Britain's 46-year wait for a champion in the event.
