Barry’s red-card shame

A red card for De Wet

Barry at The Stoop

yesterday cast a shadow

over Harlequins' sixth

win in seven games.

The former Springbok

centre is likely to face a

disciplinary hearing for

a desperately late tackle

on the hour which left

Mathew Tait in a heap.

Referee Martin Fox

had no hesitation in dismissing Barry, with

videotape revealing that

Barry's shoulder made

contact with Tait's head.

After an agonising five

minutes, Tait walked off

in a daze. Harlequins

coach Dean Richards

claimed not to have seen the incident but

maintained that Barry

was not a "dirty" player.

Quins were thankful

for the drop-goal Danny

Care dispatched in the

first half to turn the

match in their favour.

Four Adrian Jarvis

penalties to three by

Jonny Wilkinson allowed

Quins to "win ugly" in

dreadful conditions.
