Don't go, Harry! Tottenham to offer Redknapp new contract and £50m transfer kitty

By Sportsmail Reporter

Tottenham are set to offer Harry Redknapp a new four-year deal and a £50million war chest in a bid to fend off England.

Despite their interest in Redknapp, the Football Association have failed to make contact with the 65-year-old over the vacant managerial position.

Tottenham, who have dropped out of the race for the Barclays Premier League title following back-to-back defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United, are frustrated with the FA over their lack of movement.

And Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is understood to be placing pressure on Redknapp to commit to White Hart Lane.

The Football Association have revealed there will be no decision on who takes over from Fabio Capello, who quit the post in February, before the end of the season.

Calls for the decision to be made to give the new incumbent time to prepare for the forthcoming European Championships have been ignored as the game's governing body insist on biding their time.

Levy is currently on holiday but has held preliminary talks with Redknapp over improving his current £3m-a-year deal which expires at the end of next season, and ensuring his top transfer targets are feasible.

Marseille striker Loic Remy and Lille winger Eden Hazard are top of Redknapp's wishlist, with both players open to the idea of a move to the Premier League in the summer.
