Now that is one huge drive down the fairway! Police launch investigation after three police cars rampage through crowded golf course in pursuit of suspect

By James Nye

An internal investigation has been launched after three police cars in Moorhead, Minnesota charged through a crowded golf course during a high-speed pursuit.

More than 150 golfers frantically ran out of the way as the police chased a truck driver by Kendall Feist down one fairway and across the length of a driving range.

The pursuit finally ended in neighboring state of North Dakota, after which a flood of complaints caused a review to be launched into the decision to continue the tail through a public golf course.

'We know that officers on the golf course is alarming and concerning,' Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson told ABC News.

Witness Cody Fuller captured the whole thing on camera.

'My eyes got about the size of golf balls,' Fuller said to CBS News.

'There were people running. I could see in the distance people scattering and running all over the place.'

The gold course was torn up by the police chase, but luckily no one was hurt.

One golfer told Fox 59: 'I looked out the window and saw a pickup truck coming straight down the driving range.  He swerved out of the way and cut across the fairway… people running to get out of his way.'

The 33-year-old driver, Kendal Feist, was eventually apprehended in Fargo and now faces felony drug charges along with charges for fleeing police and criminal property damage.

He was initially the subject of an arrest warrant, but when police tried to arrest him in Moorhead, he gave flight.

He drove into the Village Greens golf course when he became cornered in a cul-de-sac adjacent to the club.

'A homeowner came outside and she told me the car went right by her yard near the eighth hole,' witness Russ Nelson said to ABC News.

With more than 100 golfers on the course, the police inquiry will determine whether the chase was necessary.

'The golf course was busy at the time,' golf course superintendent Rick Dauner told ABC News.

'It’s not something you expect to hear a police chase across your golf course.'
