Making a triumphant return after a year-long hiatus from Hollywood, Keira Knightley has opened up to Glamour about everything from marriage to working with Adam Levine on her new film, Begin Again.

The 29-year-old actress, who stars on the cover of the magazine's new issue in a backless Altuzarra dress, admitted that when it came to marrying James Righton in an intimate ceremony in the South of France last year, it 'seemed like a fun thing to do.'

'When James proposed, I just thought, "Well, never done that before". It seemed like a fun thing to do,' she confessed.

As for her latest leading man, Adam Levine, the Ms Knightley star admitted he 'did play a d***head very well' in their new romantic comedy.

Ms Knightley stars at Gretta alongside Mr Levine who plays her long-time boyfriend Dave. College sweethearts and songwriting partners, the pair move to New York after he lands a deal with a major label. New-found fame tempts Dave to stray, leaving a lovelorn Gretta on her own.

'Actually, I admire him being so willing,' she said of Mr Levine. 'To play a d***head is quite a big thing when you are trying to break into film and you want to be likable.'

'Oh yeah, is it?' Keira Knightley's upcoming first wedding anniversary with husband James Righton seemed to have completely slipped her mind during a recent interview

The film marks Ms Knightley's first romantic comedy since her 2003 hit, Love Actually - a challenge the actress said she was ready for.

'With a feel-good film you are always risking going way too cheesy,' she said. 'But maybe I can have a little holiday where I’m not playing a character who is being destroyed.'

Ms Knightley, who starred in 1999's Star Wars when she was just 14-years-old, also opened up about what it was like to be in the limelight at such a young age.

'There are those who manage that time of their lives really well -- doing a lot of partying and making a lot of mistakes and thinking the world is only there for you, but I was way too introverted, and there was always this s***load of photographers, who made it worse.

'When I hit 25, for some reason I didn’t care anymore -- I allowed myself to chill out. Since then, everything’s been amazing.'

Styled by Glamour's new fashion director, Jill Davison, and photographed by Tom Munro, the new issue of Glamour hits newsstands on June 17th.

I do actually like Keira Knightley but she always has a little bit of superiority in her facial expression

This must be that "sanctity of marriage" thing that religious types are always bleating on about.

A fun thing to do? I feel sorry for her hubby. Going to an amusement park is a fun thing to do, getting married I hope will be a little more meaningful!

What an idiotic thing to say not just about marriage but really to the husband as well. Do these so called movie stars ever grow up?

She's beautiful ! In fact the british media should take pride by having her as a role model rather than the Z-listers..aka Cheryl Cole, Katie Price, and the lot from TOWIE !

With any luck it'll be so much fun that it stops her making any more movies.
