Mary-Kate Olsen appeared to opt for a quirky outfit just for the sake of it as Paris Fashion Week.

The bizarre tracksuit-meets-kimono dress was unlikely to attract gasps of wonder, instead drawing utterances of 'Why?'

Whatever her reasons, the actress-turned-designer obviously wanted to court attention as she launched her new bag range with twin sister Ashley.

The dress was adorned with Adidas-inspired stripes down the side and across the chest which folded over like a sash.

With its silky texture, the gown looked more like a Rocky Balboa boxing robe ready for the ring rather than a red carpet spectacle.

The girls arrived in style as they were dropped off by a chauffeur ahead of the presentation for their latest collection 'The Row'.

Posing outside the Montaigne Market store last night in France, the girls didn't look too happy to be there and barely cracked a smile.

They both hid behind the obligatory celebrity shades, still wearing their large aviators as the sun went down.

While it would have been nice to see a splash of colour, Ashley still looked stylish as she kept things simple in black.

She teamed an ankle-length dress with a flattering leather jacket that created curves on her petite body.

Typically she tottered along on elegant heels that wouldn't have mattered if they hurt by the end of the evening as they get driven everywhere. 

Having made their move from screen to fashion with a line at bargain store Wal-Mart, the 25-year-olds have continued to soar in the trade.

Most recently they signed on as the creative directors of Italian trainer brand Superga.

Speaking of the venture, Ashley said: 'At first, Superga just needs to start off in the right stores and be on the right people’s feet.

'We look at a million opportunities a day; it’s very personal for us.'
